I was only sorta aware that there was a band named this, up until ACL the other night.

    Dang, these guys are great.

They closed with this, which is a lot harder-driving riffy rock than the rest of the stuff I watched em do, some which was downright lounge.

Saw them in a support slot playing to a couple of dozen people many years ago. Thought they sounded like Kula Shaker and ignored them for a while. Saw them play to a couple of hundred a little later, they’d discovered stagecraft and Alex had started singing in his Yorkshire accent. Thought “these kids could be on to something”...

    Oooh thanks for posting!

IMO, Do I Wanna Know is probably the best single to be released by anyone in 20 years. I was excited to hear more from them after that came out. Nothing else really grabbed me, though. I need to give them another listen. They've gotta have other stuff that's good. Do I Wanna Know is an absolutely brilliant song on every level.

Their album AM is as good a rock record as anything in the last 20 years. Standout guitar riffage from start to finish.

I have it on good authority that the guitar is dead. So this show never happened.

    Killer band.
The early staff is dynamite but I also liked their last "Las Vegas lounge" album.

You should also check Alex with The Last Shadow Puppets.

    The guy is a genius.

Some years ago they spent some time with Josh Homme in the studio, which has served them well.

I keep hearing about him, and I don't find Josh Homme interesting as a guitarist or producer or anything like that. I don't think his bands are that great, or even interesting. The most interesting thing about Josh is Brody, IMO

Been a fan for a wee while now. This is probably my favourite of their early stuff.

Not really my cup of tea but, saw them live at the Hollywood Bowl. They commanded that venue and the show was a great performance and memorable.

The Arctic Monkeys are a proper rock band in all the best ways. Their last album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino is pretty far afield from their prior albums, but I actually liked the spaced out lounge vibe even if Alex Turner's version of crooner vocals didn't really work for me. Still, glad that Arctic Monkeys are putting out interesting music and hardly resting on their laurels.
