I am brand new to lutherie, and I've just been lurking here for months, trying to soak up as much info as possible. Thanks to amazingly generous folks here at TDPRI like Mr. Hawley, I was able to make these:

One of the advantages of being an engineering student is that I'm able to work in one of our rapid prototyping labs. Ours has a laser cutter and water jet. Some of our eco challenge car guys were on the laser, so I got some plexi and made these on the waterjet. I have a neck template as well. Everything is so perfect - the tolerances are great.

This weekend, I begin making some wood chips in earnest!

Awesome! When I'm back on campus, learning to use the water jet is pretty much my top priority. I bet you'll make a great guitar with those templates.
