This is the latest big thing going on right now at Apple Music. I’m told it’s revolutionary and will change the way music is made and consumed. My ears are telling me, “Meh.”

Is it just me? Am I missing the boat here, or is this stuff all hat and no cattle?

One more note: listening to the Atmos enabled stuff in the van (better than average sound system) just sounded splashy, like too much reverb/echo.

You have an Atmos system in your van? It requires a compatible receiver and all the additional speakers.

My $120 Samsung Tablet has something called Dolby Atmos. All it seems to do is make things louder. Nothing like their flagship Atmos for theater surround sound.

I have Atmos speakers in my home theater rig. I just mounted them on top of the two front floor speakers. I live in a third floor condo. I didn't want them at ceiling height because the attic is over me. Didnt want to fill that up for the neighbors. But it still works pretty well.

At most I have no Atmos.

No more than none at all.

I haven't paid much attention but can tell some content has better sound qualities, and I notice the spatial audio part only in the AirPods pro. For content I make I have a latest phone set to use the new protocols and standard where that sounds great.

With age and job related hearing loss plus tinnitus I might not be the best judge but what I play in cars, devices and speakers mostly from my Apple subscription often sounds better than output from a friend who obsesses over making his music files from different sources. For self-made video it seems like the sound and picture are best when sharing with others having late model Android phones.

My work is constant dealing with complicated tech stuff so I just go with simple for personal enjoyment and so far all this stuff seems great.
