    thumbnail_20210414_130239.jpg

Made from dumpster pine and cheap ebay parts .
still got some sanding to do , meanwile I`m wondering :
What is the best way to wire this up , how do I get the most out of this ?
Got a p90 in the neck and humbucker in the bridge , both alnico5
vvt setup or maybe som series/out of phase stuff ?
your advice would be greatly appreciated ;)

I dig it. The double cut teles never did anything for me, but this has just enough offset to make it interesting.

The top horn looks kinda Jazzmaster-ish. Very cool. I love those bridges by the way, lots of mass to them, and the profile is nice. For switches, I'd say Series/Parallel on the bridge is a good choice. Instant character change in one switch flip.

Two volumes and a master tone, treble bleed on P-90 volume and maybe a simple grounding switch if the humbucker is good is good enough
    Nice design BTW

I'd stay simple for the wiring: 3-way, volume and tone.

If you want to be adventurous with a 5-way superswitch, you could try out of phase, or half out of phase (search for soop and hoop for some interesting wiring ideas).

Great design, I dig it too. And I bet it’s comfortable to play.

You already have the control plate for 1 vol / 1 tone; 3 knobs would be too crowded and I don’t like staked pots.
For the switch I would go simple 3 way, but I would add a push-pull on the tone knob for out of phase.
I would personally have no use of a P90 and humbucker in series.

In my limited experience I have rarely been satisfied with a bridge pickup without a tone control...I end up using my tone control for the bridge and just dealing with whatever that does to the neck p’up. I really wish stacked pots weren’t so dang expensive. Looks good otherwise, though.

I'd have a parallel/series option for the humbucker coils.

Nice. It’s similar to a shape I came up with. CBS has a lot more to apologize to Leo for! I’d stick with the traditional 3 way wiring myself.

My question would only be what value pots? 250? 500?

    Looks awesome BTW.

I'd wire that baby to 1950's Gibson spec all the way! 500K CTS vintage taper, oil cap, 60/40 solder, cloth wire, etc. Great job BTW! She's lookin' real sweet ;)

P90 & PAF is a really nice combination that should be used more often. It's just that that combination was never used at the time, so it doesn't quite look 'right', despite sounding very balanced.

It looks good, and so does the work. That rout for the P90 is excellent! Someone out there is now furiously googling sources for “dumpster pine”.

Thank you for kind response :)
I went with standard 3 way for now .
The p90 and bucker has ok balance without individual volume , just needs some tweaking of height.
I had an idea of trying something different for the finish ( what better way to mess up a project ?)
It did not turn out like the images in my head :(

Oh well , there is plenty more pine in the forrest ;) ( or to be salvaged from the garbage container )

    That is a gorgeous shape.

I've never liked the look of strats but I feel like you've improved it

I like 3 way v-t, but I might consider vv/t or even just vv if using a P90 and a humbucker jic the middle position is way out of whack, which it might well be. I kind of hate stacked knobs and complexity in general (I also usually am not a huge fan of middle positions) a plain v-t should be considered. I guess it all depends on how you usually use a guitar.

This is what I do now and no switches

    received_4166739956726001.gif

The beauty of this is with a humbucker I use 500k, a P90 330k and standard single coil 250k. The one tone you can customize to taste. I normally use a 250k with treble bleeds on all volumes regardless. I occasionally use a 330k and rarely 500k for tone. All to suit my ears and I tell you I always have a "middle" I love :)
