I can’t believe I am watching this. I’m sorry but this is simply not country music. How did this happen?

In part because you’re watching it.

I want nothing to do with any country of the last 10 years other than Chris Stapleton or the odd Brad Paisley

No not country music it's garbage most of it . Certainly not Merle Haggard !! I'm still somewhat a young man but can recall watching HeeHaw and the Barbra Mandrell show. It was something I was raised on and didn't know for years there was any other kind of music. Traditional country is the real deal not sure what this new stuff is , but it's not country.

Seems like Country music has an awards show every other week? Are they that insecure that they have so many?

Not a country music fan, but, even more, not an awards show fan.

Just like getting Alzheimers when you get old is a mixed blessing; you don't know how bad off you are, going deaf due to age and 55 years of Rock 'n' Roll means I have an excuse not to watch/listen to that saccharine drivel performed by 'pretty boys' and 'flavor of the month' chick chanteuses.
I used to primarily play Country, but now I say I am a 'Rock 'a' Billy' musician.
Hank ,Merle, George, Marty, Patsy, Waylon, Johnny.........we sure do miss you

I think it's a new biography but could be wrong, it was two hours (with 45 minutes of commercials).

I gave up on American country music and then a strange thing happened. I got a new BMW that came with a SirriusXM subscription with more channels than I had in my last subscription. Channel 171 is CBC country. All Canadian country all the time. I feel like I’ve been caught in a time warp. This station is as dated as I am. The music sounds like it was lifted out of the 90’s and 00’s. All new material, at least to me. I’ve heard one artist who I’m familiar with from YouTube, Tennille Townes. She’s country without being sappy. It’s odd listening to a Canadian station with faked southern accents but American artists sometimes sound like they’re swallowing their tongues too. Anyway it’s new country that doesn’t sound like new country and it’s better than what I heard on the last country music awards show I watched.

I didn’t even know there was one on tonight. I generally don’t care for TV awards shows of any type (music, movies, sports, etc.) from any era. I am sometimes interested enough to find out who won what award the next day, but that’s it.

I think that is not fair to soft rock.

in other news, I put my new Buck and Merle bumper sticker on the pickup today.

I have never had the patience for awards shows.
Sure, maybe they do deserve them.
Just as I deserve to put my attentions to other matters.
