And if so, could you answer one question for me ?

What is his deal ?

Obviously super talented, wildly successful, great showman, seems to be an overall nice guy, I even think he’s probably on the same side of the aisle as me but seriously -

do you know anybody who acts like him?

And if you just know his records, you do owe it to yourself and everyone else before you respond to this, to watch that Netflix thing

I just don’t know...:confused::eek:o_O

I think Garth got enamoured by money or success. I think he is extremely talented but decided to say a little less to hundreds of millions than a little more to tens of millions.

I liked it
I recommend it to friends
A bunch of things came together for him, but, persistence seems to have been a strong point.
Garth is part of why I really liked 90’s Country.

In what way?

Someone who is on the verge of tears every other sentence.

Someone who seems to be saying profound and very impactful things all the time.

His voice lowers, he’s almost whispering , he’s looking right down the barrel of the camera...

How he never seems at ease/relaxed/casual.

The one big thing I do give him credit for is walking away from his career for 14 yrs to raise his kids.

And, his solo performing days definitely show through when he just sings and plays acoustic guitar. As good as anyone at that.

But to me, there’s never an unscripted moment with the dude.

Can’t figure him out.

I didn't watch anything on Netflix but I watched him on the Gershwin award thing, and I have to say, man the guy can act! He had that batch of crones out there in the audience eating out of his hand and singing along with him, knowing who they were made it an astonishing feat! I think at the end of the day, (not that end of the day, the real end of the day) he must be exhausted from just being Garth. After the things he's accomplished, and if you say you wouldn't like to have his financial success, or maybe even trade places with him, I'm going to be more than a little skeptical. People always say "he sold out" well, I'm onna tell you I wish I had of had the chance to have "sold out" to that extent.

Oh, I’d trade places with him in a skinny minute !

And speaking of skinny, when I did change places with him, both myself and my lovely wife Trisha would both go on drastic diets so they could go back to the skinnier gauge wires they used to use when they hauled my ass off the stage to fly around over my adoring fans.

And Trisha would be tasked with transforming her fantastic cooking to much more lo-cal dishes.

And as Tom Segura is my witness, I would never look directly into the camera, I would only cry every 10th sentence, and I would put Chris Gaines in a box and bury him out in the Sonoran desert...

He majored in advertising in college. I think that says just about it all. When he's on camera, he's "Garth Brooks®". It's a show and he's a performer, and he's selling an image to the audience. Same thing I feel with Sir Paul McCartney. He only shows a pre-fabricated (pun intended), market researched image of himself in public.

I do wonder what these folks are like when there's not a camera in front of them, or a microphone. Would be real interesting to see.

I know what you mean. I’m not a follower or fan of his music, but I also don’t have a strong dislike of the guy. I respect his hard work and success.

But yeah, I saw part of this documentary and I’ve seen other interviews with him and I can’t help but wonder if it’s all part of his act. He’s no dummy when it comes to marketing and image. Hmmm....

When he started to refer to himself as "We", his likeability turned superficial. Immensely talented.

The only thing worse than that "we" business is when Joe Dokes starts referring to himself as Joe Doaks. Joe Doaks likes Coca Cola in the bottle, Joe Doaks likes his breakfast on time.
