I picked up a pair of Adidas AdiPure barefoot shoes the other day. I love them! Takes a little getting used to, and you run on the balls of your feet not the heel/toe.. but wow they're really nice. I've always loved going barefoot as much as possible, or wearing flip flop sandals.. these are the latest evolution in footwear, highly recommended.

And I don't care if they are goofy looking. :D

are they murder on an ingrown toenail? no, seriously...

What about those of us with middle toes longer than big ones? You know, there's a word for that, actually...

A Quick Google seems to indicate that the condition is a widespread mutation known as Morton's Toe... These "shoes" prolly' aren't too good for that!

Personally, as I have flat feet, pronation and Morton's toe... They would probably be an extremely poor choice for me and those like me!

I just don't wear shoes much.... to get that barefoot feeling...

I wonder if you could surf in them?.. handy on reefs and rockshelves with urchins ...

the inter toe rubbing would be severe if any sand got in there, though....

    +1 creepy....

If you can get them in size 18 EEE they'd probably sell out to those bigfoot hunter weasels.

Agreed, it's either flip flops or dockers with my cargo shorts.

I wear the toe socks those are intended for as I have some damaged/ broken toes. The toe shoes I cant wear as I have the long middle toe. People here wear them for running hikeing and loungeing around. It takes practice getting into the socks but the relief from pain and sores is worth it I feel.

I've just gotten a pair of New Balance "Minimus" running shoes. They're "barefoot" shoes without the individual toes. They're light and minimally padded, with a very small heel-to toe drop. I think they'd be a good choice if you have Morton's toe, or if you aren't sold on the idea of having your toes separated (like me). I've been working out in them, but I'm still learning to run in them. The idea is that they discourage striking with your heel in favor of a smoother, more natural stride, which is a lot easier on your body. Pretty cool.

Almost every wetsuit producer makes neoprene booties (hi and lo-top) with a thin rubber sole that are specifically designed for surfing. I have the Reef hi-top ones and I can tell you they're great for freezing Cape Town surf.

Apologies for the hijack, carry on guys.

I've had Vibram Five-fingers for almost 2 years now, only wear them at the gym; they're really good for working out, especially doing exercises like deadlifts and squats. They're very comfortable.

A guy I work with wears them to the office...they look pretty ridiculous coupled with slacks, dress shirt, suspenders and tie. He has earned the name, Mighty Joe Young, because they make him look like he has monkey feet.

The may be comfy, but they look too odd for me. However, if you choose to wear them..enjoy!

Many of my clients and coworkers wear them (I work in a gym). Although I'm only 24, after years and numerous miles of sprinting on concrete, hard tracks, and up steep hills, coupled with plenty of high impact from basketball and plyometric training....the last thing I want to give up is cushioning and stability. My knees are already shot.

I completely understand their purpose and think they are fine for some people. Just not me.
