Anyone tried this Coleman folding stool for busking?

I'm sitting on a dining chair, the seat is about 18-19". I would be comfortable to play at this height, but singing would feel cramped. According to the Amazon description the seat height is 15.5", as it is canvas you will probably lose another inch. I don't think that this would be practical for me, though you may be happy enough with it.

I think 15.5" is the seat depth. "Roomy 15.5-inch seat and comfortable 17.5-inch height." But you're right that the tuchus is going to be sitting lower than that.

I take the point about canvas and steel below. I also wonder about posture: would the sag in the middle of the seat tend to make you bend forward?

I think it would depend on the songs and instrument you would be playing if you are busking. It does not have enough character for blues. It is not strurdy enough for anything uptempo or rocking. I would say it would work for a busking fluatist playing classical music IMHO. I have never busked and I have never played the flute but I have played in a band with a flautist. It was to play the Chicago classic "If You Leave Me Know".

I do not believe I am adding much to this discussion of sedentary busking chair choices.

Just me, I have to play sitting down ( bad back)
I always bring my own folding chair ( a steel, padded seat & back 'card table' one) to any gig (where I'm not already familiar with their chairs) or Farmers Market.
I can't deal with stools as the height is weird for a tall guy, and they have no back.
So a regular padded folding chair is ( low maybe, I know) comfy/wide/strong and portable

Depends on your weight and if you don't mind a little sag.

I have a few of these chairs for when I go fishing and they are very light to carry and pack up nice and small, but I am 225 lbs and the webbing does sag under my weight so it would draw your knees up a little in the process.

I have also seen one of these chairs collapse under too much weight. I don't know the actual design limit, but it likely isn't more than 250 lbs...or maybe even as low as 230 lbs.

I too play seated due to a bad knee and this chair could work for you if you are not real tall nor very heavy.

Check out some of the drum stools.

Some have backs on them. They're pretty well padded and they do fold up. Obviously not as flat as the Coleman.

They will easily go as tall or taller than the camp chair.

Probably a little more coin.
