    Typical CBS cost cutting; plastic shaft 1 meg pots, cheap wiring, the neck pocket rout looks like it was done by Stevie Wonder. But I have to admit, it sounds great.

    Wow, that's a yellowed finish. I reckon it probably used to be a lot lighter - Olympic white, maybe - but the clearcoat may have yellowed with age or possibly exposure to nicotine.

    The case isn't a period Fender but period accessory. The pickguard is probably pattern replica.

    To check the colour look under the guard or in cavities. Probably white, if topcoated with nitro it would be yellowed

    there is a thread about fullerton museum, they have more than one purple pickguard thinlines there i believe.

    I've had it apart, definately not white, it's pale yellow. I've seen bright yellow ones & I've seen lilac 'guards before but never this combo. Someone decribed it as "rhubarb & custard", I laike that.
