I still have a beat up old Marshall 4x12 given to me by Chris Squire from Yes: It's ugly, but it sounds great)

I have a custom made LP that was made by a guy who made guitars for Carl Perkins, Andy Summers, Mike Campbell, guitar player with Heart, George Harrison and Paul McCartney. Unfortunately, none of them played it before I picked it up.

Do you still have the name of the guy? He might have one of their guitars

had a 74 Gibson LP special 55RI that the previous owner was convinced had belonged to Keef at some point. Actually, the story was that some sales rep from Gibson had given it to sir Keith to "try it out" but that it ultimately ended up back in the reps posession. I was like "cool story bruh, got any paper work/evidence to support that?" There was none, so I negotiated from that perspective. It was sweeeet tho. total mahogany slab.

But - I've got a 74 Telecaster Custom once owned by Jerry Merritt. I didn't know who he was when I bought the guitar (in the early 90s) so like a dumdum I've lost all the provenance that it had at the time. so that's as good as the keef story.

However, I've got another tele, a '68 (that's been Keef'd), which I bought from Elsten Torres, who records under the band name Fulano de Tal. I think he's grammy nominated, and successful if perhaps not hugely famous. Hella talented tho.

and the coop of grace - a Gretsch Corvette signature prototype that belonged to Garret Dutton (G Love and the Special Sauce). It's twangy, like a tele from another mother.

Do you think anyone in the forum has a guitar owned by Keef himself

CB5953EF-B2C3-42BB-B3C0-DCAFCCDD866F.jpeg I had some 50s Strat pickups that were once in one of Robert Quines Strats.
Lost the guitar I put those pickups in in a pawn shop.
Have a pair of Billy Cobhams drum sticks somewhere, he had used them and I used them more so they’re pretty beat up.
Bought one of Ivan Julian’s Strats but parted it out because I only liked the neck.
Still have the neck almost 30 years later, pic shown.

Oh and many many years ago I kissed Odetta, when she was still a young woman. She did a show at UNH and I chased her down afterward.
Not sure I can say my lips once belonged to her?

I might have some drum sticks that belonged to Cecil Taylor’s first drummer Dennis Charles, who took drum lessons from Ed Blackwell and gave me some drum lessons on the practice pad Blackwell made him.
Cecil fired Dennis right after a Newport Jazz festival show I guess in the 50s which kind of killed Dennis’ rep, plus he was a junkie for most of his years.
Dennis married a friend and lived with me and my GF in our Brooklyn loft in ‘89.

Ivan Julian was the amp tech in a shop where I was guitar tech, and I knew Quine casually through a friend who had Mojo Guitars on St Marks in the 90s.
I had a sennheiser 421 that had belonged to Tony Conrad who was a fairly big film video and art music performance artist in the 60s, he as friends with Warhol and members of the Velvet Underground and seems to have used that mic during that era. Got it from his son who was the drummer in my noise rock band.

I don’t think of stuff as celebrity owned but it’s interesting to think back.

My Gibson R6 Les Paul once belonged to Peter Stroud, guitarist for Sheryl Crow, and co-founder of 65 Amps.
I did not buy it from him, but there is a signed statement of provenance in it’s case.
I bought it from it’s second owner, I am it’s third.
    Here it is.

I have a Fender Lite Ash Telecaster owned and played by Travis Furlong, of Glamourpuss Blues Band. Cool guy, really great player - international award winning blues musician. I know him quite well and he’s more of a Gibson guy. He got a great deal on it, but it never really resonated with him, lucky for me!

Not Keef, but this one's close...

I have a Trussart Steeltop that I got from Trussart's shop in LA. As they were finalizing the sale in the office, James told me that the guitar was built for Ronnie Wood, and that Woody ended up sending it back. Why it was sent back, I have no idea. It's an amazing guitar.
