About 6 or 7 years ago I sold a partscaster Tele that I had built up. I didn't want to sell it, needed money, story old as time.

Now that my life is a little more stable I've been searching craigslist, reverb, ebay regularly for a couple of years hoping it would turn up.

Still no luck after keeping a watchful eye, so I figured I would ask here just in case someone had picked it up.

I sold it to Austin (TX) Vintage Guitars, and I don't think they were doing online orders at the time so it likely got sold in person there.

Some key features when it left my possession:

    Black MIM body

AVRI 52 neck with a stock round and added-on square string tree

    AVRI 52 3-saddle bridge (don't recall the serial#)

    AVRI tweed case

Bridge saddles were mixed -- 2 brass 1 steel

Pickups were a 60s bridge and a Twisted neck

It may have been modded further, parted out, who knows, but if you have it, know someone who has it, or have seen it, please let me know!

Needle + haystack. Good luck, hope you find it, but 7 years is a long time. It could be parted out, or just sold on as one thing.

I once found a MIM strat at a guitar store, that I had sold 8 years earlier to a different guitar store. Bought it right back cause I had always regretted selling it. Great playing guitar. Best MIM I had ever played. So it is possible but you will have to be tenacious like a honey badger.

    .

Can you recreate it from parts? That would be the fastest way.

Second vote for rebuild. Easiest way to start a new relationship with a guitar is to build it yourself, especially if you built it to begin with. One factor that hasn't been considered in this thread is that the guitar is happily kept by its newer owner and never leaving that home. Building a new one may not replace the original guitar in the way you want, but it will get you playing and building memories with a new axe. Who knows; with improvements in manufacturing, you might just like the new one better.

Sometimes guitars find their way back. I bought my first partscaster back 10 years after I sold it. I was looking through the Teles on craigslist and there it was. I sold it for $350 and bought it back for $400.

    Don’t pine over the past.
You put together a good one, you can put together a better one.

    What’s the serial number? :D

I kid, but I wish you luck. I once found an acoustic that my mother sold at a yard sale some years earlier. And I wasn’t looking for it.

Have you tried calling Austin Vintage? Maybe he keeps records.

yep, Austin has a tight community but sometimes visiting musicians pick the stores clean. mainstream stuff may be kept as rentals?
