I’m a member of one of them can’t remember which one ? i seem to remember it has a memorial to a lady who passed at the top of the main page or maybe the forum page?

And if someone recognizes that one I don’t know if that’s the big one.

My buddy has tasked me with selling his 1966 ES 335 and I wanna get it in front of some people that possibly would be interested .

Thanks !

You're thinking of the Les Paul Forum.

List it on TGP, most folks on the LP forums are also very familiar with the TGP emporium as vintage gear is moved there too. Plus, the fees are better than reverb/ebay, lol.

That reminds me, I gotta list a guitar over there.

Oh, and '66 is a killer year no doubt but the vintage die-hards usually prefer the wider nut on pre'65-ish examples. I'll take a '66 all day though.

And I consider most of the pre-65’s as too small also ! (Big hands)

Thanks though. I will try gear page too.

I’ve seen some 69’s that were back to 1 11/16 but I don’t know if that’s when they all went back or what.

The patent number pick ups on this one are so good I told the owner to bite the bullet and get it re-necked big by Joe Glaser or someone in that realm. It’s not like these things are rare - there’s tons of them out there. He could just archive the neck and include it if he ever wanted to sell.

But, the owner is an acoustic nut so he really has no need for this anymore .

This is the one you're thinking of. I used to be a member and held jams with a lot of the members of it. Probably the best place to feature the guitar.

Yes, that's "The Big One". I was a moderator there many moons ago. The memorial is for Lily, who took over the forum from its original founder.

Some of the worst human beings on the planet are/were members of that forum. Glad I was banned from there over a decade ago.

I prefer the narrow nut years on Gibsons. My '68 SG Standard and '68 ES-330 both have them, and it's the secret ingredient in what makes them so great to play.

I also love 335s with trapezes.

I'd love to have that guitar, even if I am not so big on red ones.

I occasionally use Les Paul Forum.

I’ve had generally helpful friendly responses when I’ve posted.

I don’t usually respond If antagonised anyway but I’ve seen plenty of posters on this site be disparaging about the users on that site so maybe there’s something in that.

I have to say that it is really not very user friendly from a technical and display perspective. I use the Google monster to find stuff from that site more effective than their native search.

I drop in occasionally - seems to be populated by some hi-roller collectors and many sensitive souls who take offence very easily and start flaming each other. All rather entertaining - joking aside, there are some very knowledgeable dudes there too!

As a bit of a 335 nut, I think 66s can be a really good deal at the right price, and depending on the degree of originality, condition etc. Hopefully the pickups are pre TTop PATs - and from the picture you have a wide bevel guard and reflector knobs, as opposed to the narrow bevel guard and witch hats which I think came a bit later.

Neck should also definitely be long tenon if its 66. Nice to see its not been stop tailed too. A few more pics would be good to see.

I used to be a bit particular about 1 11/16" wide necks, which narrowed to 1 9/16" in early 65. But recently I got a 68 Trini with the narrower neck and it plays great - I don't notice the difference much after 5 minutes playing.

Nice guitar - I'd be inclined to go the Reverb route. Good luck with the sale.

for some reason, they rejected me from joining. i don't know why, i'm a nice person. i've always assumed it was a matter of money.

join mylespaul instead.

MyLesPaul is not reputable in my opinion, because the moderators are highly biased, cater to cronies, less honest and inconsistent with the policies. They allow certain members to post at will, unchecked, while they punish or censor other members for not agreeing. I was called a name by a moderator and locked out of a thread, for correcting him on a technical question concerning vintage Gibsons. He later deleted his input from that thread to cover his tracks. And, he is one of the more active, more visable moderators on that forum. Foul.

LesPaulForum on the other hand, is very reputable, and I've never even seen a moderator identified, much less intervene into a thread! Of the seven forums I actively read, LesPaulForum is the least animated and less contentious. The one thing you need to keep in mind with LesPaulForum, they are serious about vintage Les Pauls and vintage Gibsons. The members are less interested in copies, entry levels, Tributes, etc, and don't consider lessor guitars to be equal (Tributes, Epiphones, etc). Some might consider this snobbery, but for the owners, they might consider the opposites to be posers. Which is similar here and TGP and other sites - its insulting to openly state buyers wasted 4k on their custom shop Fender, when they could have spent $199 for an equivalent Affinity Telecaster for instance. If you keep that in mind, you won't draw any flak.

Agreed - I've got two 60's Gibsons with the narrow necks, and with regular playing (like any instrument) you self-adjust to the spacing and neck. Afterall, Gibson did that by popular demand.
