Anyone know anything about these Keith Urban guitars?

I see these pop up on Marketplace and other places. They look pretty cool, seem like decent instruments, but I don't see much discussion on these.

Yes, I remember these popping up on QVC or whatever because I’d set my DVR to record thinking it was a Keith Urban concert or something, but it was just a segment selling these guitars and a course of song books (this was shortly after I’d taped a Curtis stone saucepan sales segment, rather than the cooking show my wife has asked me to tape, so I’m not allowed to set the DVR any more without my glasses…)

I vaguely recall hearing that they’re made by Yamaha? Might be wrong on that - but I know I toyed with the idea of buying one because I always liked Pacificas, and they often turn up dirt cheap on Craigslist.

Reminiscent of Esteban guitars and amps. Bargain-basement and the visuals are gawdawful. I cannot figure out why someone as successful and widely-respected as Keith Urban puts his name on that stuff. Perhaps he really is devoted to getting new players onto guitar, in which case, terrific.

Mustn't forget he's an Aussie "country" artist, selling his own interpretation of Americana. Some things are bound to be a little off.

The non-burst ones look fine to me. Pretty standard, honestly. Looks like a guitar.

I'm not really a fan of bursts so I don't have much to say about them. The green one looks ok.

I haven't played one of these but, I mean, how many different times have you heard the same thing: modern bargain guitars are a way better bet than you might expect. I wouldn't assume they're not worth checking out.

That's if you're a player, obv. I assume collectors have their own metrics, I can't speak to any of that

I've never handled one of the electrics, but an acoustic did come in for a setup. It was pretty heavy for what it was, but the quality was much better than the two Estebans I worked on years before.

Back around 2007 I was invited to a KU concert, and I gotta say the guy was the real deal. He could sing and he could really play. All the ladies were all gaa-gaa over his accent and Goo Goo Doll hairdo.

Perhaps there was some Australian charity like an orphanage that got Keith's slice of the guitar sales pie. At least I hope it was the case. I'm going with that 🧐
