My guess is you will eventually get an answer or, better, a set of pickups. I also got the impression from talking to him on the phone once for over half an hour that he was a standup guy. I know that doesn't help much, but my gut feeling is you will eventually get something. Note for the future: Owen @ OC Duff and Don Mare are both terrific pickup winders and have excellent customer service. I always got answers within hours if not minutes from both these guys and Owen custom wound and delivered an amazing pickup exactly within the time frame he gave me ( 6 weeks ). JM $ .02

Thanks, I sure hope so. Owen was also recommended to me by one of TDPRI's most honored members, so if I get a refund that is where the cash is going. If get a Ron Ellis set, well OK that's what I wanted too.
As a customer who has paid up, it'd be nice to know WTF is going on. Seems fair to me.

    Let's hope you're right, thanks.

Rogb, Sorry to hear about your trouble, I do hope the situation gets resolved to your satisfaction. I just want to add another thumbs up to Owen Duffy. Owen is a true gentleman who delivers on his word and delivers about the best pickups I've ever played. Don't hesitate to give Owen a try, just tell him what you want and he'll put them in your hands.

He finally got back to me. I sent him a message on FB. It took him a few weeks before he messaged me back saying he had an email issue...:D

Yep. I'm sure Ron's pups are top-top shelf, but for about the same quality, until proven otherwise, Owen is a true professional, IMHO.

    SUCCESS! Thanks to you:p

Yup finally heard from old Ron, he said he had trouble with his emails since buying a Mac ( a whole other thread there I think...) and he was using the iPhone for comms. He said he emailed me and he noted that I had paid the money.
I will ask him for a firm date now, as I went in line at the end of December, so I shouldn't have too much longer to wait. If he can't do that, then I will go elsewhere.

Thanks guys, this is a great relief:p

Out of curiosity, due to similar circumstances, was your issue resolved?

Yes it was, I got my pickups. The neck pup was unfortunately faulty but Ron rushed me another so 10/10 for support there.

Communication was good with Ron back then and he also sent me 2 other neck pickups to try so I kept the Broadcaster bridge and the Standard+, I posted the original Mid Tall and the trial A3 back to him. Service was looking outstanding at this point.
And that was the last I heard from him, dunno if he ever received the pickups...
I asked him about some other pickups but heard nothing more.

I can honestly say that the Tele is fantastic in every way, many people have tried that guitar and all love the sound through a number of different amps.
I asked him about some HBs for my Epi 339 but I am pretty pleased with my DM 36th Annis.

Glad to hear it finally got worked out. Mine will probably show up some day too.

He does have a unique business model though. I can appreciate that it is a part time thing and he might be quite busy, so the delays to get the pickups are understandable. The never returning emails or phone calls is less understandable.

Just FYI, I sent an email to his normal "known" email account about 2 weeks ago and heard nothing back incase anyone in the future wants to try to get a hold of him.

Ended up going with a Fred Stuart.

The various message boards seem to have plenty of tales such as ours.

Nothing wrong with Stuarts or Mares.
