I'm looking for something to replace the Utah speakers on my 1975 Twin Reverb. I replaced one of them with the Jensen C12K but I'm not feeling it. I can't dial out the high mids from that speaker. The two speakers that I am looking at can handle the 100 watts that my SF Twin can put out.

The cream or creambacks. Love the cream, the blue bigger brother. Pricey. Was the Utah a ceramic or alnico ?

WGS ET65 might be worth a look too. This seems to be their go-to recommendation for silverface Twins.

For 100W amp two Blackbird 100 or Cream would be safe to use and I honestly envy you if you are able to really push the amp :)

BB100 is best sounding speaker I have. Its sound stay clear but is very rich and therefore can be great for single quitarist of the band.

Cream low volume clarity is muddier and mid volume boxier and some fizz which I don't like. Loud volume is great and should "cut the mix" better.

Tornado 100 is great speaker and especially with Fender amps and it is very light and for two the weight saving should be felt if you road yourself :)

Of those three there must already be hundreds of Thomann reviews to read ;)

There are some reviews of these speakers but hardly any with a Twin Reverb. Do you have all three of those speakers?

Yes I have. I have test them driving full power EL34 JTM45 and 6L6GC 5F6A Bassman which are said to be very alike. I was very sceptical when Celestions were said to be great with Marshall and EL34 and so called Am sound speakers are great with Fender and for me BB100 and Tornado 100 are more Am than Brit.

Tornado 100 sound is clear and detailed so it sound great always when guitar, pedals, amp and guitarist sound great. My playing is poor so it is not my favorite but when I tune my amp and pedal builds I use T100. Also when I try to sell amp I connect it first to Tornado. I am building stereo ambient setup and will use two 10" Tornado 100.

I have both speakers in cabs. These I attach to various amps. The Blackbird is very articulate, clear notes are refined, and punchy?. I am not the best at describing such things, but try. What comes out of the Blackbird is exactly what your amp sounds like. It is tight on the low end with a Marshall head and the Cream 90 is loose and like described as earlier, a little more fizz. Both sound great and both are 16 Ohm speakers but have used Weber’s Z Matcher to look them up to a variety of amps. I had the Cream in a Vox AC15HW for a time but it was replaced with an Austin Speaker Works Crossroads and it will stay there. Great rendition of a greenback. It depends if you want a somewhat loose and bluesy sound with the Cream or a tighter sound with the Blackbird. Of course this is all dependent on what I hear with my ears. I should use an ABY switch and try them together?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking to put the speakers in a Twin Reverb. I have a 4x12" cab with two V30s and two G12H30 55hz speakers that I have attached to the TR and it sounds good. The cab is really for my Marshall head. I guess I should lean to the Blackbird as that will be a different option.

Fender did install Tornado 100 to George Benson Twin Reverb. Possibly you can find reviews?

Mentioned on last chapter here.

It would be hard not to be happy with the Blackbird 100. It has a great alnico sound. It does have a 6.7 inch depth with the bell cover. So, on a tight chassis you may have to remove the cover. I did hook them both to a Marshall head in the 8 ohm connections and I thought they balanced pretty well even with the Cream being 100 db and the Blackbird being 97db. I have always found the Blackbird able to punch through and it has a very cool tonal character. It would be a great speaker for a Twin Reverb. I no longer have that amp and replaced it with a Vibrolux. Tired of moving and carrying around an eighty pound amp. It will pick up the character of that amp and project it perfectly.

Jensen about 3db lower numeric sensitivitys come when open IEC-baffle is used and there come acoustic cancellation. All Jensen frequency responces have a V at 400Hz except Digital-series which were measured in reflect tube cabinet. Obviously Bass speaker too.
