I'm Trying to find reviews on this little practice amp. I'm thinking about buying one for the camper. Did Fender use the Best backing tracks for this amp, or did they throw in some stinkers?
I does look cool. I had a G-DEC, but returned it. It just sounded too much like an emulation to me, instead of a "real" amp. I got a Vox DA5 instead, and haven't looked back.
However, the backing tracks, as simple as they are, are still cool. At at this lower price point I might be up to give the GDEC (Jr) another try.
Cool review. When I audtioned the DA5, Microcube, and GDEC, I actually thought the GDEC had the worst models... I felt like I was listening to a guitar amp that was being played on the radio, instead of actually hearing the amp, if that makes any sense. However, I've always missed the ability to jam to a track with the DA5 I bought, so maybe I'll have to give the GDEC Jr a look.
I also like the Jr's easier (less complicated) interface. Not that I couldn't use the digital interface of the GDEC, but for my purposes the knobs like the Jr has is all I need.
I tend to look on all amps and guitars on their own merit .I find the Gdec Junior a great little amp.I am looking for my own sounds rather than copying another amps tone ,Most of the stuff I play is fairly clean though I have been known to get some overdrive into the equation .I ignore all the settings and look for the tone that suits me and the guitar I am playing. Most amps have sweet spots and so does the Gdec but they may not be in the place on the dial that you think .I am sure others will be disappointed with it but I love it.As ever pickups and the way you play etc will drastically alter .your perception of this amp .
it's a fantastic little amp . if your a berk you can make it sound horrible , which i think is the reason for poor reviews sometimes, but in the right hands it can sound surprisingly warm , natural and sweet , the hot rod one setting , gain on about five, tone on about four , volume about three, a tele or a strat , and your into sweet bluesy fendery tone . the built in backings , whilst limited are useful , mainly due to the fact that that they are there in the amp and instant . it really is a great little practise amp just right for solo practice or funtime jamming with a mate or two , two juniors is twice the fun , you'll find a sound to suit any type of music , with minimum fuss , it's not gonna sound like a vibroverb at stage volume , but as a practice amp it rules, the vox da 5 sounds like a fuzzy little transistory box by comparison . the junior approximates real fender sounds , sounds more deep , oh yeah and it;s cute as hell
I shoulda bought the one that mistermullens bought... Instead I bought "the middle one" it has less than 5 minutes on the clock and I've had it almost exactly a year. Caveman Approved NOT!!!!
If anyone's got anything they wanna dump that I may be interested in gimmee a Field Holler by all means. I've still got the Box AND the packing material.
All i really want is my Studio Pro and my Metronome anyways. What was I thinkin'?
I LOVE mine! The 2nd tweed setting is great w/ a touch of reverb. The backing tracks are limited but it has the imput for midi or mp3 ect. For $150 it's a steal.
