    Hello everyone

I got my hands on an AC30C2 and I want to use it as my main gigging amp. I was wondering how to get the best crunch sound out of it on its own. What are some good settings and also how useful is channel jumping?

    Are boost pedals useful?

And lastly how close can I get to this guitar sound with an AC30:

    Thanks

This is going to sound really simple, so just disregard it if you've already tried it. On my AC15, I just use the top boost channel and crank up the channel volume. Treble to taste, bass up as high as I want to fill out the meat under the treble. I don't use the tone cut - it's all the way down. Master volume goes where it's appropriate for you.

I imagine that cranking up the master will give you another bit of extra dirt, but I'm getting close to the tone you posted at a little over bedroom volume with a Strat.

Thanks for the reply and I have tried it but when i did I noticed that some of the notes sounded a bit funny, like they were cutting off to early and there was no sustain. I will give it another go tomorrow. I am using a Fender Duo Sonic with single coils btw

If you're having a problem with sustain it could be the guitar or an amp issue. Can you post a quick clip?

I don't find my AC to be really compressed or sustain-y at low volume. Cranked up it'll do more of that.

I will have to post a clip when I next have time but I will try sort one out!

It just lacks something in the gain. Maybe it is because I am playing at a low volume

I found the best sound that came out of my AC30cc2x came with sing a treble booster into the normal channel and cranking the amp. The treble booster I use give 38db of gain/boost and the amp is now a fire-breathing dragon.

Did you crank the master or the channel?

Crank the power tubes and the master to about half, although I’ve had the master down real low too and it sounds just as good.

I guess it's lacking some harmonic goodness: an ac-30 needs to breathe a little, which happens at healthy volume to say the least :D

Heh, an AC30 breathing is not a "healthy" volume. Not by any measure!
