Jupiter - I think your estimate of 8 to 156 weeks to build a guitar could be reduced a bit when freezing an ice guitar. Especially after you've made a mold.

You could pre-assemble the (waterproof) electronics on an airy scaffold - pour the water in the mold, commence the freezing process, slide out the pre-tensioned fishing line scaffold at such a stage of freezing (slush) that the electronics stay put...

The neck joint could be a problem. On the other hand, maybe unibody construction with thin, vertical, steel stiffeners could robustly unify the body and neck.

You could put Popsicle mix in the upper bout to really bond with the guitar. What bond is stronger than infant and mother?

otoh Now I'm fretting about the frets :( ... and the reliability of my freezer!!!

btw this uploader, randomandrare, includes the personnel and the date of the session in the info there at YT

I pulled a 1 3/4" solid layer of ice off a wheelbarrow full of water. There were holes like pickup routs in the ice---I had punctured it with a brick during the cold spell, and I had created a gap I could imagine being the cutaway.

Maybe somebody in Québec City would make one, bolt a neck on there, wire it up and play it at the ice hotel. Open January to March.

Yeah, crazy notion. Ok. But not half as crazy as what they do with butter in Wisconsin.

edit2add Probably stick with a cool jazz repertoire; alternatively the Albert Collins songbook.
Just because it's crazy doesn't mean it's a good idea.
