I wanted to buy a guitar this year, tried twice and failed. One time the guy wouldn't ship, the other time I kind of lowballed a guy on reverb, but he deserved it because his shipping was unusually high.

I didn't vow not to buy any, it's complicated enough finding what I want.

I'm at 4 this year, purchased. However, I have yet to actually have a new guitar in my hands.

I have about 22, more than everything I've ever wanted (incl. amps). Sometimes it scares me, so the ones I rarely play are under the bed/out of sight (6).. so I'm cured...

but I have a real obsession with pedals (70+)...they're small and you can hide them in boxes, so it doesn't appear like a disease...

Hey Johnny, how's it goin' today?
I'm a long way from a medical professional, but I have a little personal insight into all of this. I quit smoking 17 yrs ago, after a surgery. I was already leaning that way, but I decided that I didn't want opened up again.
    So far, so good.
A little over 8 yrs, 9 mos ago I decided to quit drinking. That's been a rollercoaster ride, but it's ok. I'm thankful to have life.
<<<Here's My Opinion, FWIW, YMMV, LOL>>>
In the Grand Scheme Of Things, I think buying or selling guitars, amplifiers and peripherals is pretty low on the list of "Life Threatening Events". I've met and talked to people buying and selling, both F2F and online, that I never would have, otherwise.
Buying/Selling usually makes at least 2 people happy.
Guitars, especially guitars, don't make me want to drink.
I hope you, and everybody are all having a great day.

    Darn it...
Wasn’t going to but came across a Gordon Smith GS-1 for reasonable money at a weak moment.
    No more though....

I think its too late for that. I got a CV 60s thinline in January, and am hankering for one of the new Epi Les Paul Juniors, a Wildkat Uptown, a Joe Pass Emperor II, and a Yamaha FSX5. Maybe next year.

    Thank you so much.
    I do appreciate it.

Three months + sober now, and I've only bought and sold five guitars in all that time.

I'm not sure what that's supposed to tell me.

I'm enjoying the guitars, that much is true.

Yes, I vowed not to buy any guitars this year. Good thing your thread didn’t say anything about amps. I’ve already bought two this year. :D

there's no point in my making a vow. I don't need anymore guitars, but that's never stopped me. next week I might get an overpowering letch for anything at all.

my buddy who trades gear constantly just got a custom shop 57 les paul. that is THE Greatest Guitar I ever put my hands on. the neck is so big, but shaped just right. the body is "checked" beautifully. it really almost feels like a weapon more than a guitar. I wish I could buy it from him.

but I don't really need it.
