Ooh, a crest, you don't see those too often. How do you like it?

For those who don't know, the Gibson Crest basically was an ES-330/Epiphone Casino but made from solid rosewood and with mini humbuckers instead of P-90 single coils.

On the contrary, I intend and am quite determined to buy two. One to replace my stolen 1980 Tokai Springy Sound, the other (yes, another Tokai) to make up for not having the cash to buy two in 1980. Now all I have to do is track them down.

I bought 2 guitars and sold 2 guitars in 2019. I feel like I've covered all the bases I want.

    Only 162 made!

It's lovely, very refined and sweet sounding compared to a 330. The bridge pickup is quite unique - the closest comparison I can think of is the bridge/middle position on a Strat. They're the Johnny Smith archtop pickups which I believe are slightly different internally to standard mini humbuckers and reputed to be very clear sounding. I was a bit taken aback by the neck which is huge, nothing like a typical late 60s Gibson and might even be a bit chunkier than my '58 ES225. But I'm delighted with it.

Just waiting for a Bigsby B3 to arrive (it'll be a hinge plate adaptor job, no extra holes needed) then I'm going to use it in place of the 330 for a while and get some miles on it.

    I bought 5 in 2019. Planning on a $200 Fender Rumble 40 Bass amp in 2020.

Ukulele has also crept back into my consciousness after five years and I want a Rick Turner Compass Rose Tenor Jumbo uke. They’re on his website but he’s not making them right now. Probably good for me.

I just bought a used Ibanez AF85 Artcore jazz box. The last guitar I bought was in 2010. I am at the point that I have no need to purchase another guitar, bass, amp, speakers or pedals this year. I am taking jazz guitar lessons & really have my tone nailed. Pretty happy.

I'm with the OP, I'm not buying another guitar. Unless I have to. Or its a deal I can't refuse. Or a friend is hard up, and needs cash. Or...

Nope. I think I'm good for now. In fact, I've already started giving away some of my guitars and amps to my kids who are all grown and out of the nest. Gave one son a 1985 Gibson Les Paul Studio Standard and 1966 Fender Bassman amp. Gave another son an Epiphone Les Paul Custom. My Epiphone Dot and my Fender Mandostrat, along with a Fender Frontman 25R amp went to another son. My daughter got my 1953 Gibson ES-175 and my son-in-law got my Fender Vintage '62 Reissue Precision Bass.

What did I keep? I kept two MIA Telecasters, a Les Paul Standard, a Fender '59 Reissue Bassman Ltd., a Fender Deluxe Reverb, a Martin D-18, a Martin D-28, a 1921 Gibson F-4 mandolin and a 1989 Gibson F-5L Mandolin.

So, like I said, I think I'm good for now. Actually, I really don't know what I could possibly want.:)

I didn't buy any last year (well I did get 1 or 2 basses) and I don't want to buy any this year. I have a Squier Strat I want to unload, hardly even worth it but I have a guitar box and extra gig bag, so it might work OK. Now I am occasionally tempted by things like:
    • 6-string guitars
    • 12-string guitars
    • guitars that might have a broken string
    • basses (I don't have an electric fretted full size bass any more, waahhh)

I'm in! I have never been more satisfied with my guitar collection, and I've never understood as well as now what sound I'm chasing and how guitars contribute, and don't contribute, to that.

2020 is, instead, the year of excessive amp purchases, and I intend to give new-tech modeling a serious look too. Just started the process to spec and order an Allen! I would love get well sorted on the amp side in 2020 so that in 2021 I can get back buying too many guitars...

complete guitar purchases are unlikely in 2020
sell off a few - well I'm trying = actually to sell more than a few
finish several projects - I have my fingers crossed

I only want three specific things: (whenever they are in reach)
    new Reissue Fender Super Reverb
    ultra strat
    ultra tele

after that I'm finished for good.

Played it... Played it some more... Yeah that's not going anywhere is it [emoji38]

Never say never but I probably have all the guitars I need. A few pedals and maybe a THR10C, that's a different question.

This is all the gear I currently own:
    Vox AC10C1VS
    Ampeg PF350 and 2x10 cab
    EP Booster
    Spark Booster
    Sugar Drive
    Carbon Copy
    Tuner
    Boss Super Overdrive
    Mustang PJ Bass

I sold my Tele early on last year. Was a MIM standard that I’d had a while. Was going to give up playing. Then went and bought/sold/traded more guitars than I can remember over the months after that. Enjoying messing with the bass to change things up but I will get another guitar this year. Hopefully it’s the last one. I’m happy with everything else I have. Except I’d like a Fender amp at some point.

No more guitars in 2020, new policy is number of guitars going out are > than guitars coming in.
