Since the OP mentioned Johnny Marr, let's not forget that he cites this as a key influence for 'How Soon Is Now'

You have to screw up your eyes a bit to hear it, but it's there ;)

I liked Chic/Sister Sledge as a kid and forgot about them, then I read in an old interview with Johnny Marr that he was a fan of Nile Rodgers, and I have been a big fan ever since. What are some cool disco songs that you enjoy?

I met my wife in 1977 while I was managing a Round Table Pizza restaurant on the Monterey Peninsula in Central California. The restaurant had a juke box loaded with the popular music of the day, including several disco songs. There was The Average White Band (Pick up the pieces), Commodores (She's a brickhouse), KC and the Sunshine Band (take your pick), Carl Douglas (Kung Fu Fighting) and Rose Royce (Workin' at the car wash), etc.

To this day, if we ever hear one of the many songs from our Round Table days, we refer to them as Round Table songs. So many fun and unique songs. I saw disco as fad at the time, but suffice to say, one that still has appeal. So yah, disco bring back fond memories, especially since I met my soulmate for life (now going on 46 years). I think for our 50th anniversary we will have a party featuring many of those Round Table songs. Good memories and good times.

OBTW, I play in a blues band these days. Doesn't mean that there is plenty of good, fun music from the past.

I was messin' with my wah-wah settings and I thought of this song (even though it's actually bongos going through a wah):

Yes. I was deep into listening and playing rock during the ‘Disco Sucks’ years… but I have always liked good Disco. Several great/talented bands and singers. Way better than what replaced it.
