I settled on PNS several years ago when I started using Kendrick brand "pure nickel" strings. Buttery feel, great tone, and they last longer than any other PNS I've tried.
I've tried Curt Mangan (meh), Fender (great tone but totally dead in about 2 hours playing time), D'Addario (meh), Ernie Ball (sound great, nice price, but don't hold their tone for very long), Pyramid and RotoSound ($).

    Suggestions?

Yes, I use pure nickel exclusively. Try DR Blues. Those things sound great and last a long time. I even play with nickel strings on my Martin now. They are not bright and brassy, just clean and balanced.

I like John Pearse Jazz Lights with single coil p/ups.

DR Pure Blues are nice as well.

I like brighter strings for humbuckers though.

So far i've only tried out Ernie Ball and Fender pure nickel strings. I need to try some more brands. The Ernie Ball strings are FAR superior to the Fender nickel strings. I strung a guitar with the Fender nickels and had it unstrung and went back to nickel-wounds in less than 10 minutes of playing. It was that bad.

I prefer pure nickel wound strings. The only guitar I don't use them on is my Gretsch 6116PTV. TV Jones Powertrons just sound better to me with D'Addario XL's. Mangan Pure Nickels sound great new, but the wound strings go dead a little too quickly. GHS Burnished Pure Nickels are my go to strings for Teles. They feel nice, last, and just sound great w/ Teles. Gibson Vintage Reissues sound decent and seem to last. I'm presently experimenting with a set of Ernie Ball Pure Nickels on my Guild X175B and so far they sound good and appear to be holding up. DR's feel nice, sound good, but start to go out of tune sooner than later.

I used to like the DR Pure Blues, but I've had intonation issues with them on occasion.

I like the burnished nickel ghs set for jazz. Ernie ball for country. Never tried the Kendrick PNS. If they're comparably priced, I'll give em a try.

Hmmm...I'm happy with Curt Mangan strings. I use 10.5 gauge and they're hard to find in pure nickel...I'm not even sure anyone else makes them.

I really like DR Pure Blues.

I have lots of Dean Markley "Jimi Hendrix" nickel plated steel strings around that I use on some of my humbucker guitars. Ironically, I bought a bunch of those "Hendrix" strings when I found them on sale because I perceived myself to not be picky about strings. Then I tried the pure nickel strings, and I really prefer them to the nickel plated steel. Now I have all these strings that I don't really want, so I just use them on my humbucker guitars lol. For years I just used whatever nickel plated steel strings I got a deal on. Now that I tried the all nickel strings they're all I want to use.

Wound strings? Are you making sure you've got a good 90 degree (or more) bend, and are wound on the peg at least a few turns before cutting, to prevent the round core from slipping?
