I had no interest until I befriended a noted NFL player who seemed more into music than the sport. But my disdain grew deeper for the sport when I learned the cruelty almost all the players must endure, which is concussions and other physical maladies almost every player must deal with. Also the way they treat the players in general is ridiculous. In high school the biggest jerks were on the football team and the girls, gravitated toward the jerks. I don't think my interest will ever grow until the time I substitute a fine grade of sandpaper or even steel wool to use on the toilet. And as far as the super bowl, I might like the entertainment, but it has been some time since they had acts that would excite me. However, if you have a nice TV, it seems a good test to test the clarity of your screen. Colors definition, that sort of thing. But the NASA channel is excellent for that even more. Also, it seems to me the attention it gets doesn't say a lot for our humanity as a whole. You would think other more important processing things should be at the forefront than groups of guys trying to annihilate each other stuffed between commercials that seem to try to epitomize modern art. And musicians into sports has always puzzled me. You guy's getting my drift?

Judge much? That post is full of broad sweeping generalizations that are impossible to be universally true. The players are paid very well for their activities and do it willingly. Life isn't safe.

You sound like a bitter band nerd. :)

Sports make sense, when you can relate to doing the activity yourself. I'm thinking about how long I would be in the hospital if I took some of these hits. When it hurts just getting out of bed after working hard around The Cabin, it is just beyond me how humans could submit themselves to this much punishment - just to entertain me.

Har…
Years ago, my vision became a problem, and I was treated for what was going on.
I am told I will probably have to have eye surgeries in few years.
TV, back then, become nothing but eye strain.

Along the way, television noise frequencies began to irritate my nerves. Particularly commercials.
I kept the DirecTV subscription alive, but only for the NFL Sunday ticket.
Never watched anything at all from Feb-Sept, because the pleasure wasn't there anymore.
In short order, I cut the tie to DirecTV altogether, and tuned out completely.
Got busy with life, and getting things done around the house, and working on music.

Years ago, when my wife's daughter and her husband would come to visit, we would plug a TV in for them, and my visitors would work their magic to make the Roku work for them. Then they could stream whatever they liked to view on Netflix or Amazon.

I don't have any use for any of it, and the TV is unplugged. I happily listen to key sports games on the radio.
If the play-by-play announcer and the color commentator are really good, it can be a blast listening to the radio for sports.

Eli Gold and JP Wilson were fantastic for the Alabama games.
And Westwood One's Kevin Harlan and Kurt Warner call a really good game.

I like that I can have a radio on in my office or kitchen, and one going out in the garage.
That way I can walk around, get things done, but still keep up with the score and the action.

But I'm weird.
I admit it.
