I live close to launch site and it’s a nasty weather day here. We’re going to have to get lucky to get the launch off today.

All the new tech in the Crew Dragon is very cool. Godspeed to our astronauts :D

You've kicked in the butt my limited knowledge of physics, but: what if in all that pillaging the M&Ms removed increase Earth's mass and decrease the moon's, in such a way that the moon is dragged into a big crash, probably landing in the ocean or on some innocent and insignificant third-world country but heck, who knows?

I'll be running a meeting at liftoff.

Maybe I can convince everyone to adjourn early. The main guy from the customer side is a big science nerd (I mean that in a very good way), perhaps he'll also want to cut it short.

Personally I can't see how bringing back raw materials, or putting the infrastructure on Mars or the Moon to process raw materials and then bring that back, can be cost effective. So I don't think much of that. But at the same time I never thought streaming on demand video would be a real thing 20 years ago. So what do I know.

My oldest (he's 11) is over watching it live from the beach with some school friends. I'll be here watching the stream.

Some elements, like Helium 3, are worth bringing back to Earth. Other materials can be used to construct habitats and other things locally on the Moon, Mars or further out in the Solar System.
