Not fan of sunburst in general, had a MIM Standard that I picked up cheap about a year ago, liked the guitar, hated the colour so got rid......
........but agree with the posters who have said that it looks amazing with binding, CVC body with a maple neck has me drooling currently! Something about adding two white stripes round the perimiter of the body really enhances the look of a sunburst guitar.
I also like the current cheap(ish) Gibson Les Paul Junior in sunburst, I plan on picking up a Junior in the near future and am currently considering the burst option, maybe as it has a nitro finish:

    Not a big fan....

Although I do think they look nice when they are old. However - If they came at a discount I might like them a little more.

    Gorgeous, thanks for posting it.

Love antigua also, not much for the brown bursts.

I think a burst finish negatively impacts the tone. ;-)

I don't think they're especially flattering on Telecasters. Some Strats look okay with them, Jaguars and Jazzmasters look nice with them, and Gibson Les Pauls and jazz guitars like the ES-175 are very classy with them.

I can't answer this poll, i don't like bursts on Tele's - but i like fender bursts on strats and very light LP bursts (especially the tea burst)...

You know when I hate bursts? When they're applied to drums! Just looks bad to have a line of bursts next each other- blech!

Was my simple question somehow an affront to you and you feel the need to repeatedly snark at me to get some sort of weird satisfaction?

Everybody else has been civil, why not you?

Unless I am missing something from prior conversations you two have had, I think he was just pointing out that the Poll numbers show a huge margin for burst lovers or neutral. Only a small percentage of the posters (or poll results) show a negative reaction to the burst..... (15% of total poll results)

Once is pointing it out. Saying "Looks like you're in the minority" and coming back to say "Looks like you're still outnumbered." is someone who seems to have issue with my simple question trying to be antagonistic.

Guitar finishes are a matter of personal taste. I expressed mine and asked people about theirs. He was the only one who seemed to take it personally and try to do an "in your face" act when people supported his personal taste in guitars. It's just weird in an otherwise very civil place.

Now, of course, some will see me as being uncivil for pointing it out.

Personally, I think if it is done right it can really make the guitar. But if it is just the least little tiny bit wrong it totally ruins it. There doesn't seem to be an in between in my eye. I like the 2 tone far better than the 3 tone, by the way. The red in the 3 tone looks like too much makeup on a otherwise pretty face. I think a good burst looks far better on an acoustic than an electric. I wouldn't go out of my way to find a burst but I wouldn't thumb my nose at a nice one, either. So I guess I'm neutral.

I think you should quickly send both of those to me so I can hide them here in my music room where nobody will ever have to look at them again.... (well other than me! :D)
