I've owned all sorts of guitars with different finishes. The only burst I can remember is a used ovation 12 string that I got for really cheap. Other than that, I've never seen one I wanted - if a guitar is only available in a burst finish I keep looking.

Now let's see if I can add a poll to see if I'm not alone.

At first I wasn't a fan of sunburst either, until I saw the 62 custom tele with the bindings. It made me get one for myself (or put one together...).

Some look good, some don't. In general I think Gibson and Epiphone probably does a better looking burst than Fender.

I'm a fan of the two-tone burst, but not the three-tone.

I'm pretty much tired of Fender bursts but even worse, for me, is candy apple red. Doesn't taste like candy and not even made of apples. WTF?

I'm not a huge fan of Fender bursts either. I do like some of the odder bursts like red or some of blue bursts I've seen on Teles and a few strats. Funny because I love the tobacco bursts on some of the LP style guitars. But that being said I don't think I'd like a blonde LP much and that's about my favorite color for tele's and strats.

I dig the classic burst (cherry, tobacco, sun, honey) but the newer colored bursts like skyburst and midnght I'm not cool with. I love tobacco burst Tele with a tortoise shell pick guard. I also think Gibson bursts typically look better.

Neutral. I personally wouldn't get a burst Tele, but I think it looks great on a Jazzmaster, for example.

Count me among the burst fans. But there are plenty of bad bursts out there to turn off the sensible. I think the problem is that they're easy to screw up. When they're bad, they're homely. I prefer a 2-color vintage or tobacco burst. I seldom see a 3-color that grabs me, because the colors typically don't blend well by my eye's account. And gloss finished bursts don't work for me either. That one geardaddy posted is fine by me.

Interesting take. I can see drawing the line with some guitars, but for me I wouldn't have distinguished between these two.

Both are my favorite guitar body shapes, so I tend to use them as juxtaposing examples often. I also dig some bursts on Strats too. Probably should have used that instead.

I like a burst on a Fender bass, not greatly moved by it on a tele or strat.

I love the aged cherry burst on the AM Deluxe.

I have a 3TSB strat with RW neck, in which body finish played a big role. But I don't think I'm going to get a burst tele.
