You get my vote for best post of the day too!
Mellow schmello... You don't have to abandon what you liked in your youth. Taste should expand to include what you listen to now but everything in the past was a building block in one's taste in music. I don't listen regularly to what I listened to when I was young but I go back sometimes. Lately though its a real smorgasbord and I love that.
No, I have not mellowed.
mellowed...i dunno...my friends would say i mellowed years ago when i first got into jazz...
But i also still listen to (and love) slayer and bad brains. They make zep look like paul anka.
True, very true. But Crissy was still way hotter than Janet... and especially Jack (RIP).
I wasn't interested in metal until I was in my 40s and started hearing Nile and Necrophagist and Slayer being played in the tattoo shop where I was getting my back piece worked on. The oversensitive emo-before-there-was-emo twerp that I was at 25 would be horrified.
They call me mellow yellow (quite rightly).
It's called old.
I'm not so sure I would call that "mellowing".
as for me, I hear much more genius in LZ music now than I did 35 yrs ago and it amazes me that they were laying some of those tracks down as far back as the late 60's. I do find a lot of "how stupid is that?" in stuff like
Herman's Hermits and The Royal Guardsmen though.
I'll still dig the Beatles more than ever. I guess it really comes down to songwriting. A great song is a great song forever, no matter if its played full band or just a singer with a guitar
All thats happened to me is my interests have expanded into multiple other genres, I still listen to the angry boy music that I was listening to 20+ years ago in my teens but I also listen to pretty much every other genre of music out there, so in a sense its mellowing but with some fire left in it
. . . and I just thought you were being cheesy . . .
Granny...hotter than Miss Hathaway
Total agreement; here are a few more to consider:
Bobbie Jo...hotter than Billie Jo AND Betty Jo combined.
Marilyn...hotter than Eddie.
A draw between Lily and Morticia.
Good taste requires me to leave out all of them who had hair of gold like their mother.
Since you never claimed that you paid for the CDs, I'll go ahead and say you're not mellowing!
I had to mellow before I could like zep. Not punk enough for my younger self. Now I'm gonna go with the music fan label, and I like the 70's chick on the left.
Reading the "dazed and confused" thread reminds me why I had to mellow to like them. Copyright issues, and 45 minute live improv, hmmmm.
I like 70's singer songwriters more than Zeppelin now that I'm in my 30's. I used to know every Metallica song ( first four CD's ) and every Van Halen song ( 6-pack, not that gaay Van Hagar stuff) now I play country for a living. I think it's called growing up.
as long as you refer to stuff you don't like as "gaay," I'm pretty sure you can rest assured you haven't grown up.
