4F7C12EF-E43E-4CC5-9DFF-56D0C812FEAC.jpeg Looks pretty awesome. Fit and finish are surprising. No, I repeat, no fret end finger rippers. All are smooth. Tuning machines, to no one’s surprise, aren’t great. I’ve always wanted a mando and I knew that for $50 it’d be a crap shoot but I’m pretty impressed. Should be fun and it’s a looker. Buzz the cat approves!

Score. Add a $10 contact pickup using sticky tack, near the bridge, tailpiece side, between the A and G strings, shorten the cable, tie wrap the jack to the tailpiece, and its electro-fied.

I have one I bought a few years ago. It was also surprisingly well made, very playable, although the tone isn't what you would get from one costing $100's more. It did need new strings though, the factory ones were rusty.

Looks like my fender version I paid twice as much! (Used)

Cat is indifferent. She's a cat after all.

I need to electrify it. I might go the route @Musekatcher recommends.

I have one of those I bought on Black Friday a few years ago. It is surprisingly well-made and without issues.

Mine is a Rogue. I think the one in the OP may be a Savannah?

A $50 mandolin is bound to be like a $1000 car. I know from experience with both.

Yeah Savannah. For $50 I really didn’t bother to look.

Since I could not find one locally, I decided to pass. I've never been one to buy a mandolin without playing it first. My setup capabilities only go as far as guitars are concerned, and I would not trust myself with a mandolin. I currently have five, and a friend who is great at setting those up. But none of mine fall in the under $500 price bracket.

I bought a $50 Rogue mandolin a few years back and before long it wasn't playable. The cost to repair it was greater than the value.
Lesson learned and I'll probably never buy anything with the Rogue name on it. They got me once but not again.

Somehow I’ve managed to avoid their 12 strings and mandos in the past. The quality has gone up across the board. I figured now would be a lot safer than 10 or so years ago.
