Wrong thread, buddy. I think that you've had enough beer for tonight.
Looks like someone took a wrong turn at Alberquerque.
All of the personality stuff aside, I just don't like his playing or the things he chooses to play. Very heavy handed with little or no dynamics. I know guitars are meant to be played but seeing him thrash the hell out of some of those guitars reminds me of some borderline abusive events I've witnessed at Guitar Center on any given Saturday. Watching him manhandle that sixty year old Kluson in the video posted above was painful. Based on the post above by the person who knows him he sounds like a nice guy but to answer the original question, yes, I find him annoying.
Damn, are y'all still in here kicking this around?!?!? Sheesh...
Don't sweat it, I was just having a laugh, referencing another thread [Olympics related] that went haywire. Maybe I *did* mean British...? I dunno...
Anyhoo, this thread reminds me of one here a few months ago. A year ago. Maybe three years ago??? It was about what foods repulse you. Make you retch. I read the thread; I might have even participated. Turns out that people have a visceral aversion to all manner of foods I consider innocuous. And I'm no weird food fan at all, I'm a very meat and potatoes kind of guy. But the long long list of perfectly normal and common food items that cause a certain person to recoil in horror was amazing. There ain't much by way of making sense of any of it...
Boneyguy's post above is relevant...
People are funny. Most of them, I can handle without much problem. Some just rub me the wrong way. The ones that do, others might find to be perfectly agreeable.
Re: Phil X, I am reminded of the line in Life of Brian: What's so special about the Greeks??
I've seen the light! I underwent some Primal Scream therapy last night, and it really helped me with my rage issues.
Turns out I love Phil X now!
I apologize for all my earlier posts. Looking back on them now, I feel like a damn fool. Thanks everybody here for helping me come to terms with myself. I took a look in the mirror, and didn't like what I saw.
Well I do now! I like what I saw!
Are you serious?????
This could be the first occasion of someone changing their mind on the internet... and admitting it! Kudos!
A lot of wasted effort there. You're still not getting it. It's okay to not like Mr. X or anyone or anything. Go back to the mirror and apologize.
Wasted effort? I thought it was kinda funny
If you guys need me, I'll be at the mirror
Just got back from the mirror.
Wait. How many people can even pronounce Xenidis?
Who is going to remember how to spell this name.
Far as I am concerned, he's out of jail on this one. (I wasn't paying attention; I thought some guy named Joe concocted the name "Phil X" based on a marketing survey or something - in fact it is totally genuine and intuitive)
I don't know.
Sometimes I'm fine, because I want to hear the guitar, or I'm in the right mood. He's more occasionally annoying, and not "extremely" annoying to me, ever. = = ( I think the folks who go nuclear batschidt over him are the ones who trouble me mostly )
Very cool. I'm always bragging on seeing Hendrix, seeing the Buffalo Springfield when 99% of the people never heard of them.
But that Steppenwolf concert when I was all but still in diapers was really something. Really something.
The only evidence appears to be that he's paid to play as many vintage guitars as he likes, has a good time doing it, is hired by bands like Bon Jovi and has probably shagged loads of women. Clearly he's a douchebag.
Phil X is what we commonly refer to as (a) "Woah, bro."
You're still here too.....
Playing for BonJovi alone could be a qualifier.
I'm extremely annoyed with myself at this point.
Remember Powder? Phil used to play guitar in a band called Powder. He was married to Ninette the singer. She's the girl in the video. Phil and Ninette.
Phil Phil Phil.
Hey, we all gotta come from somewhere before we get to where we're going.
