I built up a cab with the GA10 based upon MuchXS' recomendation and it is stellar with my 6V6 "Fendery" VHT Special 6 Ultra and even sounds excellent with my Greta too.

Thanks MuchXS.:)

I'm a fan of both GAs. I use the 12s in my blackfaces and the 10s in my tweeds. Can't praise them enough. Only 10s I like better are the old teal p10r and p10q.
Hey Lochry - I just ran across your post. I'm about to build a 5f2a, and I was thinking of going with an alnico like the Eminence Legend 1028k. Then I got to thinking how much I love the GA SC64 in my SF Deluxe Reverb, and I wondered how the 10" version might sound with a 5f2a circuit. You mention that you have some in tweeds. Which ones? Thoughts? Thanks!

Hi professor --

The GA 10" sounds great in a tweed circuit. Currently I have 3 in a Vicky 35310 (tweed bandmaster) and they sound great. (Amp is for sale due to acquisition of a Clark Penrose). I've also used the 10" in a Harvard clone and preferred it to a 1028k.

I don't think they suit everybody, which is why I was able to find some of them used for good price, but I like them a lot.

Thanks, Lochry! That's interesting to hear you say that you prefer it in a Harvard to the Legend 1028k! I'm building a 5f2a, which is sonically fairly close to a Harvard 5F10 and almost identical to a Harvard 6G10.

Say hello to Princeton for me. We lived there four years while I was in grad school. I really enjoyed it.

Hi professor --

Princeton says hello back, but has changed a lot over the decades.

If you are thinking about joining the P-rade next year and want to spend time at Landau, Conti's, the A&B, or the Garden Theater, you're in luck -- they survive. If you enjoyed oysters at Lahiere's, gyros at the Athenian, "chicken in the basket" at the subterranean Annex (why only one basket?), getting decent clothes at Harry Ballots or Langrock's, or admired the sod farms lining Route One -- alas, they are nevermore. I just glad the Record Exchange is still humming; and thank God for Small World. But all said, this remains an amazing place.

Is the guitar museum down your way worth the trek (factoring in the foggy mountain passes)?

Thanks! Yes, everything changes, it seems. We lived out by Rt. 1 near the Market Fair Mall and Sunny Garden. The Seminary had (maybe still has?) some rather terrible-looking old apartments out there, and that's where we lived. It was wonderful, though. Glad to know that Small World is still truckin'. We really enjoyed Teresa's, then (then-new) library across the street from the cemetery, and the whole downtown area in general. But more than anything, I liked driving out into the country toward Pennington or the like, toward Terhune orchards. Or even driving over in West Windsor. I thought it was very pretty. So much of Rt. 1 is terrible, but the land around Princeton is remarkably beautiful. I did visit the Record Exchange a few times. I bought a Black Keys EP there, as I recall. But I wasn't out and about all that much. I didn't even go into the City all that much. My time was more about hunkering down in the libraries and writing a dissertation. Nevertheless, I remember my time in Princeton as idyllic.

The Songbirds Guitar Museum down here is fantastic. It's small, but remarkably high quality. I don't think I'd make a trip all the way down from PA or NJ to visit it, but if you're ever in the area, it's absolutely worth it. A beautiful, well-preserved collection. The lighting and presentation are magnificent. I have a membership there, and I go over there pretty often.

I put the GA 12" in my new 6G3 build. Very nice. The speaker is not as bright as the WGS G12C/S that I initially used, and is much more clear and well defined than the Fender Special Design (from a Hot Rod Deluxe) which I used to test and debug the amp build. It tones down the bright channel, which I like as I use this channel most, and handles volume and breakup very well. I have not tried any vintage or reissue Jensens yet but, for now, this one is staying with the amp.

I want country, Fendery tone ... I have a PRRI that I have tried a 10" Copperhead, Legend 1058, and Celestion Gold in ... and now a 10" Alessandro - I am the most happy with the Emi Alessandro 10. It is perfect for this amp (although the Legend 1058 is a close 2nd in my opinion).

I am curious how 2 of the ga10s would sound in a Vibrolux. Anyone care to share your thoughts/experience on this speaker in a silverface vibrolux? I have two Alltone 1040s in mine at the moment. They sound great and punchy especially in the mids. They handle dirt pedals fantastic too, however I can't get the amp volume up much at all without overpowering the band.

Yeah - what everyone said. The 10's are great. No harshness, sounds broken-in when you get it.

Chiming in here needlessly, but just wanted to share. Like Sudogeek above, I have a 12" version in a 6G3 build and could not be happier. I tried a RW&B, a G1230H (reconed as a 55 hz), Cele Blue and even a Ragin' Cajun 10." The GA-sc64 simply did everything it was meant to do. No weirdness. No holes. Frankly, I was slightly surprised at the bass response. It thumps when needed, but isn't boomy in my experience. Sounds corny but it is almost as if this speaker is "perfectly tailored" to fit anything Fender made from the '60s. It may do tweed as well. I liked the 12" so much I just purchased the 10" version cuz I'm quite sure I will find a "need" for it!

I've ordered a couple of Alessandro Ceramic 10s for my Vibrolux ... will report back soon once installed and test-driven.

I’ve got an Alessandro in my BF Deluxe Reverb and I like it a lot and it’s not even broken in yet.

I got Rock and Roll Amps Reverb Dlux with 2-12 Alessandros in it and it's one of the most beautiful BF amps I’ve ever heard and I’ve owned a ton. The speakers are so sweet sounding totally clean and LOVE drive pedals, too. I bought the amp used online, not even knowing which speakers were in it and couldn’t be happier. I have original PR and DRs and I’m thinking I’m going to try the Alessandros in them, too.

Not an expert in experimenting with speakers...but put two GA10's in a cab I made specifically for use with an Egnater Tweaker 15w and electric 12 string. It sounds fab, like other posters have said tight bass and sparkley top. Last week I tried out my tele with 3 SD SSL 3's in in that set up to see how it sounded and that sounded great too. I'm well impressed with them.
