I've been fantasizing about custom 3 pickup sg for years, and have all the hardware parts. anybody have any thoughts on this build concept?

Billy Gibbons 1400 hot tele bridge pickup, and a set of fender atomic humbuckers from an original fender toronado for the middle position and neck.

The bg1400 is the hottest tele stacked humbucker there is, and the atomic humbuckers are hands down the most effective "distortion style" hot pickups I've ever heard and my toronado is my favorite guitar I own. They can push any tube amp into light crunch, and get great saturated overdrive as you turn the amp up or add a little bit of volume boost.

The body will be lightweight local wood, probably cedar or redwood, the neck will be local bigleaf maple or maybe oregon laurel if I'm feeling fancy when I buy the wood.

Planning on a shallow v shaped neck, will actually be a copy of a very special kay speed demon with a unique fast neck profile. like the speed demon, wiring will be a 4 position rotary switch that selects each pickup individually, or all 3 together which can be blended any way you see fit with individual volume ocntrols for each pickup.

I learned to play on a 1981 sg, walnut color, smaller 60's style black pickguard, and factory installed dimarzio super distortions. This is going to be like a dream version of that original hot sg.

I use a 2001 “Crescent Moon” SG. Lightest guitar I own, and the ugliest. The finish on the top puts one in the mind of a well worn coffee table from a 1980’s doublewide. Wonderful guitar, easy to play, easy to hold, and sounds great.
I would love see a pic...I love ugly guitars

This is the 50th Anniversary pic of my '73 SG Deluxe. A strange model they only made for a year or so. Factory Grovers, Bigsby, LP raised pickguard, top-mount control plate. It used to be my main (only) gigging guitar when I first started out. Now it just comes out once in a while, for fun.

It's really chewed up, the combination of the factory Bigsby and the thin neck made it virtually impossible to keep in tune, so I modded it. There's also a hole drilled (chewed) thru the side of the body for a jack, when good angled plugs didn't exist and I almost busted the top control plate at a gig.

I have the Bigsby, and all the parts necessary to restore it, but it would cost more than it's worth, and I like like it as is.

My first nice guitar, it came back as a rental from a local HS, where it had gotten kind of beat up, and the cherry had faded. My Dad helped me pay for it a little while before he died of cancer. Needless to say, I'm never selling it.

I always thought SGs looked cool but awkward. The other day I heard someone say that SGs where really good lap guitars and found that hard to believe. So I went to guitar center and played a few. wow! It's a very comfortable sit and play guitar. Now I want one. Since I don't have any guitar projects going on at the time I decided to get a kit from GF. Over time I will probably upgrade the hardware and pups. I would to see any pics of any SGs and hear any thougts or storys about SGs. What does SG stand for?
This is my 69 SG. Lovely guitar, which I don’t play that much

Classic with P90s here too. I agree, it is a great sit and play guitar. But whenever I’m strapped in and standing, it takes a lot focus for me to not wobble the neck out of tune. Also true for me with any set neck, double cutaway.
I’ve also found a way to mod the controls that I really find useful for my playing- master volume/tone, neck volume and one dummy knob. View attachment 1359997
Just dug mine out after almost 3 years today, new strings and minor truss rod turn and am all set, forgot what a killer axe this is! Interesting wiring setup you have there…
