I've always liked alternative music . . . child of the 70's/80's/90's: grew up listening to The Cure, Smiths, Clash, Elvis (Costello), etc. Now a days I do enjoy the current popular Alternative music I hear on the radio and internet, but am only familiar with the singles . . . Are there any full "albums," LP's, etc. where the whole album is solid . . . ? Not sure how many of these artists are 1 hit wonders, or are there full length albums worthy of exploring? Any recommendations would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

    As far as I've investigated,

The first album from the Greeting Committee was solid; this is based upon me finding live footage of them when they first got big. Also, I think they were in high school still when it was recorded, which adds to the impressiveness.

Lots of bands are inconsistent. 21 pilots are the exception, but the bias of them being from Columbus may cloud my opinion.

The Raconteurs is an obvious safe bet.

I've heard mostly singles, like you, and it's kind of time consuming digging deep without buying the album blindly.

Pretty narrow qualifications but here are three LPs within that time that I've thoroughly enjoyed with representative tracks from each.

    Deerhunter -- Fading Frontier

    "Breaker"

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever -- Hope Downs

    "Talking Straight"

    Shame -- Songs of Praise

    "Concrete"

Three more "alternative"-ish albums I love the whole way through from past 5 years:

Real Estate -- Days (cheating here since it was released 2011 but it's a great LP!)

    "All the Same"

    Parquet Courts -- Human Performance

    "
    Berlin Got Blurry"

Courtney Barnett -- Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit

    "Pedestrian at Best"

Carrie and Lowell (2015) is an interesting album. In it, Sufjan attempts to reconcile his love for his recently deceased mother with her many flaws as a parent.

Check out Okkervil River especially their two albums the Stand Ins and the Stage Names. I really like this one off their new album.

These guys are one of my favorite current bands, but they don't have anything new in the last couple years. This one is 4 years old:
