    Do you enjoy playing poker?

In 2003 Chris Moneymaker, an amateur who entered a $40 online poker tournament, and parleyed that win into a World Series of Poker Championship, helped instigate a huge poker boom. That Summer I deposited $100 into Poker Stars, never redeposited, and eventually cashed out over $30,000... good times.. then online poker became illegal around 2011.

I've recently gotten back into live games at the nearby casinos in Louisiana. I love low limit cash games, specifically the $4 / $8 limit holdem games. I don't like playing No Limit, and I don't enjoy tournaments, tho I can do ok in those realms. But live fixed limit, I can just kill those games with my super tight / aggressive playing style. I've read over 100 poker books plus listened to many other podcasts and audio books. And.. I'm hosting a home poker party tonight for the first time in years.

Do you enjoy playing poker? What kind, where, limits, etc... Are you any good? Or just for fun...

    See ya at the tables..

I love hold em. I was a teenager when it was blowing up in ‘03, I played a lot online until they cracked down on it. Luckily I live near a couple of casinos with nice poker rooms.

Not a gambler per se, but I used to host poker parties every couple months about 10 plus years ago. Just chump change, and I think we had a 10.00 limit on the pots. It was more about friendship than it was gambling. I stopped having the games, because no one else stepped up to host. We played dealers choice, but no blackjack.

Used to love it as a teen, and in early college. Then I found myself in a group where a few were using it to pay serious college expenses. I wasn't ravaged, but watching them take some of the kids to the cleaners made it no fun for me. It was inhumane, and I stopped playing. :(

Hey I'm going to be in Wisconsin this Summer. Curious, where do you like to play?

Anyone else have a favorite card room to recommend? Always nice visiting new casinos.

Very nice! I know the tournament grinders have to really be good to overcome the rake and expenses.

How come you don't like cash games?

    Cheers

Ya its too bad we don't see stud games in casinos anymore.

I watched The Cincinnati Kid the other day, 5 card stud.. an epic movie.

Curious, where do you find stud games?

My favorite is Potawatomi in Milwaukee. Usually a lot of action.

I was obsessed with poker for a couple of years after the Chris Moneymaker win. Played online, read lots of books, and learned a lot about human nature. The biggest lesson I learned was to pick the right game where I had the best chance of winning - which meant the ones with weak players in it.

I finally decided that poker didn’t fit my personality so I stopped playing.

    I don't. That's why I don't play anymore.

Actually, I think they do have stud poker at Pokerstars.
