Just like maybe vinyl collectors. Buy 2, one to keep in the box and one to play with ?
The only sort of collector pedal i had was a boss hyper fuzz. Still common, but no so common. What do you guys have that are collectibles ? Or maybe not so collector but you like to have a lot of them, even if you don't use them.

You never know when they might come in handy right ?

I am not stomp boxes shaming anyone.

I think the closest I have to 'collectable' pedals are my original green russian Big Muff and Small Stone. But for whatever reason, I do collect less-valuable pedals. I've got nine or ten DS-1s, a handful of SD-1s and BD-2s, and a small pile of the modern big box Big Muffs. I know there's nothing special about them, but every once in a while they come up so very cheap on the used market, if nobody else scoops them up after a couple days, I buy them. My reasoning for the boss pedals is that the current generations are SMD boards, so might as well stock up on the through hole versions while I can if I want to modify anything.

I've got a few limited edition pedals, including a 1-of-1 black suede VanAmps Sole-Mate reverb unit that I won in a PG drawing. I don't do anything special with them. Just put them on the board and play. I've never sold a pedal. Wish I'd taken the same course with several guitars, which I'd like to have back.

I do regret not receiving one Caroline Somersault that I ordered. It was in a limited purple sparkle run. Amazon lost it, and there were none left in that finish.

I have quite a few pedals, but I wouldn't call myself a collector. The closest is that I've bought a couple of pedals from the Ibanez Tone-Lok series just to see if they are any good since I like some of the others and already have a few. But I don't buy any expensive stuff. What if some of those new Chase Bliss pedals become collectables? They are already worth as much as a nice guitar.

I had a mid 70's CLS Super Fuzz. I paid £10 for it & sold it for £560.
I have early 80's Boss pedals that I paid £20-£50 for, that are supposedly now worth ~£250!
And I collect mini pedal clones - Mooer, Rowin, Eno etc. I seem to have 2 of everything.
If it's going cheap, I grab it.

I have a couple of pedals one might consider collectible, but that wasn't the intention when I bought them. I just wanted a cool sounding pedal with any purchase like that. I have an Ibanez TS10 that is probably the most "valuable" one. I got it for maybe $15 out of a bucket of used electronic-related items in a junk shop back in the mid-90s. I think it ended up there because of a faulty solder connection that I easily fixed once I purchased my first soldering iron.

Hi. I’m ‘that guy’. I want them all, anywhere I’m playing.

I’m not what could be considered ‘collectable’. Maybe some of my older discontinued stompers? The DOD FX65 Chorus? Dunno, but mine has a battery door (taped on so I won’t lose like 99% of classic DOD pedal owners. Maybe the Digitech Bad Monkey? It’s such a great one, I have no idea why they don’t make more. Love my MIJ Ibanez EQ. Off the board, I have an MIJ Ibanez phaser, a T-REX Tonebug OD and a CryBaby.

Yeah. This is where I'm at. I've got about 50-60 pedals, and use maybe three live, including a tuner. I've had a few "collectable" ones over the years. I had an original OD-1 that I sold when I was a kid. I also sold a Digitech RV-7.

Now I've got a couple Ibanez LF-7 lo-fi pedals for stereo lo-fi-eyness. I have a PS-3, which I think actually lives up to the hype for the dual-detune mode. If Boss were smart, they'd just put that in a detune pedal and make a bunch of money. I also have a handful of Earthquaker Devices special edition pedals, including a bright pink Dispatch Master. Not exactly high-value collectables, but different and fun.

I am an accumulator, not a collector. I have many more pedals than I need or consistently use. Once in a blue moon, I'll get off my butt and sell something, but not often enough.

I did end up with a couple of pedals that seem to be desirable, a KTR, a big-box Origin SlideRig, don't really know what else. FRV-1 still going for $$$? This is basically just luck of the draw, though.

Yes. Although sometimes I end up using both on two different boards.

I have two ....
A/DA voltage controlled Flangers.
Mad Professor Tiny Orange Phasers.
JAM Pedals Wahcko Wahs.
JAM Pedals Red Muck II Fuzz pedals.
Mr. Black Eterna Gold modified shimmer pedals.
Ernie Ball VP JR. volume pedals.
Keeley Halo Andy Timmons Dual Echo.

If I ever found a pedal I never wanted to be without I bought a second one.

I'm not a pedal user but have a couple that might be of interest.
A Rat which was the first iteration after the tone knob was changed to a filter knob.
Also a Timmy in surf green which some think holds some special magic.

I've had about 150 or so, and still have 50-60. I use 2-3 at a time and rotate as the mood strikes. I have a box of two dozen pedals earmarked for eBay or Reverb that has been in the corner for a couple years, so there's a collection right there. I just have little motivation or reason to sell, so that's fortunate in that some of the older 'grail' pedals are still around.

I've been collecting vintage pedals for the better part of 15 years now. It's predominantly 1960s-era stuff that interests me, but the stash probably exceeds 50 by now.

I buy pedals I think sound good, collectible or not. I used to buy duplicates of pedals I really liked, only in case one breaks, but I have gotten away from that as pretty much any given sound could be done by a slew of different pedals of a similar vain.

I often sell a pedal if it sounds very similar to something else I have and its just collecting dust....then go buy another pedal with the proceeds. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

If it wasn't for having to play at lower volumes, I'd probably never use pedals.
But there's this guy I knew a LITTLE in high school (like... I knew his name), whose been following my musical ventures and is a bit of a fan.
He also plays and likes pedals.
He can't be bothered with selling them, so he boxes them up and sends them to me.
Some nice boutique-y stuff...Rangemaster clones made in England and stuff.
One is a cocked-wah pedal that has the best boost I've ever heard if I turn the cocked wah thing off...but it has 4 knobs and my next favorite has 1, so that stays on the board.
I have an early Beano Boost with a whatever resistor in it that makes it worth several hundred bucks.
I've been meaning to flip it.

I was never a big pedal guy, maybe an overdrive and that’s it. But now I have a kid and have to be super quiet when I play at night. I don’t have much time to write and none to record, so I’m in experimentation mode. I’m watching videos and reading posts and finding all kinds of stuff to want. I’m lusting after blues drivers and fuzz faces and wacky reverb and delay pedals that I never really cared about before.

Not sure if I’ll become a collector, per se, but I am looking to collect.
