Yo. Lefty in everything but guitar.

My dad, older brother and three uncles all played righty, and from watching them I just figured that was how it was done. When my brother went into the Army and shipped out to Germany he left his guitar behind, and I used to sneak 'playing' it (basically just strumming it and hitting random frets). By the time I decided that I really wanted to play, the right-handedness was taken for granted.

I’m a boring, profoundly common righty.
My friend and former bandmate Carl was kinda unique.
He’s a lefty who plays guitar and bass ambidextrously.
He learned to play a righty guitar at his parent’s, but when he “grew up” and left home, he bought lefty instruments.
    He’s good, either way.
Just as an aside, he’s also the best male singer I ever worked with.
If you hired him for a gig, he’d bring his lefty Larrivee bass, or G&L Legacy Special.
If he sat in, he could play a righty guitar or bass.
    Varmint!;)

I can’t do it. Playing right handed felt so unnatural to me. I’ve learned to build my own partscasters. I wish I was a righty, I really do!

I always air-guitar righty. I never picked up a guitar lefty.

I catch myself air-drumming lefty, though. I have been dabbing in drums the last couple of years, set up for right. Just 'cuz. Haven't tried set up for left or played open style, 'cuz laziness. Not sure if it would be any better or not.

Lefty who plays righty here as well. I kind of wish that I would have learned lefty though as I think it might have made my right hand a bit more useful in general if I'd had to teach it to fret chords and run leads.

Yep..lefty who plays righty. Even as as a drummer, I setup righty. Left on high hat, and right on snare.

That describes me exactly, other than the golf part; never have, never will. I shoot right-handed, but I surf left-footed. Go figure.

Knowing that about Bloomfield doesn't make me feel any better... Next thing you'll see is Hendrix was a righty!

Do most things with left hand, but not all.

Did try to teach myself how to play righty...... terrible mistake!

I'm close to an even split. Naturally left handed, write and eat left handed, but throw baseball right handed. Skateboard left (goofy) footed, play soccer right footed. Pics of me as a toddler with plastic guitar show me holding it left handed, but when I finally picked up the real thing at 11, playing righty felt... correct.

    Left handed, right mind.....
I play guitar right handed because that's how I saw everyone else doing it.
Interesting that nobody ever says I play piano right handed or left handed, because piano is both handed.
Just don't ever pick your nose with the same hand that you wipe with.

    No!
    Bat - R
    Bowl - R
    Golf - R
    Kick - R
    Write - L
    Guitar - L

I started right handed, but due to persecution from an older brother, I switched to left Very early. I took bass lessons once when I was about 19 and although I was established playing left handed, I tried it right handed for about six weeks and was getting to the point where I was able to play scales and walk around a bit and I got a call to sit in with a band and played left handed and never went back. Although I do have dreams about playing right handed ...

I've always thought I'd like to try pedal steel right handed, but haven't gotten around to it. One messed up cat!

Guitar is a both hands thing to my mind, but to the point of the thread I am a left handed and footed person who plays guitar the way most people play it: left hand on the fingerboard, right hand plucking the strings or using a pick. I don’t actually have a beef with doing it either way, that’s just the way all my friends who played guitar were doing it when I took it up and I rarely met anyone as a teenager that played it the opposite way, coming from violin and piano lessons I never thought as a kid there was a left/right option.

After 50 years, this topic gets old. Yes I am left handed, but play my guitar right handed.
