Double Moon Trail
B Aspinwall, June 2022
V1
Jet trails lace, buzzards high
Double moon in half the sky
Halfway home and still long gone
Take the trail that’s just beyond
Chorus
Double rainbow double moon
Double fiddle call the tune
Day old donuts stale kombucha
Take the trail that seems to suit ya
V2
Evaded cadence shade enough
hair shirt suited for sterner stuff
Sackcloth sail and shoeless goat hair
Take the trail beyond repair
Chorus
Bridge
The iris making nice is
Everywhere you look
The iris making nice is
Everything you lack
and autumn is calling behind your back
V3
The creek is up, the day is wrong
memories of memories still too long
Flat light morning late afternoon
Take the trail of the double moon
Chorus & out
Suggested theme for July, to be posted before Friday 29th. Apply the topic/theme wherever/however you want.Time for someone volunteer a theme for the July challenge.
When George Harrison died, my boss asked me to quote one of his songs in our newsletter. I spent half an hour sifting through his lyrics and couldn't find anything that stood alone as a meaningful thought.
His songs are good because of the way the words and music fit together, not because of how either sounds standing alone. E.g:
"I look at the floor and see it needs sweeping, while my guitar gently weeps."
"I dig love. . . . I love dig. . . ."
And speaking of summer songs: "Here comes the sun, and I say, "It's alright."
His songs are good because of the way the words and music fit together, not because of how either sounds standing alone.
In mine, too!. . . it's one of the greatest songs of all time, IMHO. . . .
Sure, if I knew how. It sounds like it takes some work.. . . Wouldn't it be good to post a recording of the song – no matter how rough – with the lyrics? . . .
How do you think we should carry on; keep expanding this thread, or start a fresh one every month? I would favour the latter.
Sure, if I knew how. It sounds like it takes some work.
Yeah, I don't know how. And I've got nothing to brag about, so it seems like more trouble than it's worth. And I haven't recorded for a few years, anyhow. Just been writing, jamming, and gigging. Is it the uploading of your songs to this site that you don’t know how to do? Or recording the song itself?
BTW– My post wasn’t directed only to you (though if you were performing original music, I’d like to hear some!). Anyone who is posting lyrics it would be cool to hear the music , too!
It seems like some of you have the tune in your head already with these lyrics. Wouldn't it be good to post a recording of the song
I've quoted drewg before in the July thread but just wanted the context here.
Ok, still a work in progress but here's what I've done with the lyrics that I posted earlier in this thread.....
