HECK yes. Ike is that perfect combination of musicality, guitar skill, vocal chops, stage presence, and sense of humor.

The story of how he got into Zappa's band is a good one!

I loved him in Zappa's band, Vinnie Collauita praised him for his natural sense for polyrythyms and odd time signatures, but I don't know his work outside of that band and some tribute ensembles after Frank's death.
He sang Joe's part on Joe's Garage.

I loved his "Joe" but hadn't heard the 1988 tour cuts.
Stairway to Heaven also showcases Ike with a great lineup!

His 4-pc band performed in my town 8-10 years ago, a program of FZ songs. Was a fun show, the man can play guitar. I got to meet him after the show, seems like a nice cat. He was headed to St Louis to visit family.

We used to play this one in a band I was in. Ike has a wonderful voice.

Absolutely!
Of course, I can't really think of anyone who came through Zappa's band that I don't have tremendous respect for, musically speaking.

I met Ike at a local tribute act (the most excellent Stinkfoot Orchestra) performance a year ago August and talked to him for about 15 minutes (about Frank of course). Nice guy. I also saw him play with them earlier this year. I don't think his health is very good to be honest. I wish him the best. Still remember the first time I heard him on Joe's Garage.

I saw the them on the tour for this at the Uptown in 1981 (yikes!).

Apparently, Ike wasn’t touring with them because he had a newborn. Great show!
