looks like tonewood and it sounds like it on my screen. rub it out with some tonewood oil and see what it looks like.

double post, must be stereo tonewood. another example of why I don't trust computers to do my banking....

It's some kind of Asian wood. I have seen a few bodies like this around the late 1980's and early 1990's. It was meant to be painted over with solid color and not clear or transparent. The sound was pretty good thought. like any guitar body, they all sound different.

I just ran into an add, where someone is selling a 1990 squier body. The routing looks almost the same. (See picture) Also, the neck pocket is about 54mm (narrow?) and so is mine. I got (with that junk pile) also a neck of a "Sunn Mustang" and that neck fits quite well to the body. Even the screw holes. So, maybe a squier - maybe a SUNN? Did that SUNN -guitar have something to do with Fender..??

Yes, body thickness, truss rod position and key type, heavy weight, tuners, everything matches. Sunn Mustang by Fender, made in India = Squier II by Fender, made in India. Both made around 1990. Not much of a guitar I heard, but one mystery solved. And the body is maybe "Indian Tiger Wood"...

Poplar is the only wood i've seen with large "splotches" of much darker wood, that's my guess too.
