A guitar net on 40 or 80 meters would be fun. (W5TTW)

I'm looking into getting my technician license soon, studying for the test ATM.

Live in apartment though, so my options are limited. Looking at the Baofeng bf-f8hp for starters.

20 meters, 40 meters. I don't have enough real estate to do 80-160.

Working my way up to it but I'm only currently licensed for Spam radios. "Wonderful Spam, wonderful Spam!..."

It wouldn't surprise me that if more people have shot skip on bootleg CB equipment, than all of the ham operators combined.

This reminds me of my uncle Ted. He used to live in East Boston, MA and we'd go to visit him when I was a kid. In his radio room he had business cards plastering the walls of all people he'd connected with over the Ham. I'd sit next to him and hear: CQ, CQ, W1LOV, London, Ocean, Victor. He later moved right next door to our house. He had an oak tree topped and placed a tower on top of it. I seem to remember him installing filters on our TVs and radios (if I remember correctly) so we wouldn't get disrupted by his transmissions.

A lot of them run ham rigs that have been opened-up for 11 meters. The 718 & FT450 are very popular on 11 because the mod is so simple and there's no drift. I really don't care what they do as long as they stay at the kid's table and don't interrupt the adults when they're talking.

Forty years ago, they promised to hunt you down with black op helicopters and shoot you dead for shooting skip. It didn't seem to slow people down doing it much.
