Any good plant id apps. Tried a couple last year but they post a picture to a stupid library and you have to wait for comments. Any thing that is real time ?

    Just checking.

There are so many variables with photography alone, and one still should pay a botanical specialist to be sure. I think crowd sourcing still seems like a good bet--I mean how fast must you know?

That said what apps have you tried?

A couple. Maybe they were confounded by my weed selection. Lol

A friend showed me that I can use the Google app to ID plants.

If you pull up the app, there’s a symbol ( “[*]” ) at the top, next to the microphone icon. Click on the symbol and a Google Lens camera comes up. Point it at the plant and take a picture. The app will tell you what it is and give you information about it.

I’ve used it a couple of times and it seems to work well.

I use PlantNet, but you need an interweb connection.

Yeah I used Google Lens to identify the collard greens we got in our CSA mystery box recently. Worked great!

I tried one like the op did, and I posted a cultivated plant (gasp shudder) and I got soooo much grief I never ever went back! Wild plants ONLY!
Man, it made our “use the search function “ or ‘Lez Pauls sukk’ crews seem positively civil!
I’ll have to try the google, unless recos for ‘free and good’ apps come in.

I use one on my iphone called Picture This. I have wildflowers coming up in my raised bed and I have been checking them as they sprout. It is free and you get instant results.

I also use “Picture This” and I like it. I thought it cost a few $ but can’t remember.

Yeah, I used one, but it wasn't on my phone. Worked on a variety of random plants. I'll see if I can get the App name.

I usually just mow the yard and I can tell you later on if it was poison ivy.
