Hi guys and Merry Christmas! I'm looking for some gift ideas. My son is six and already a big fan of blues guitar. I have all of the Clapton Crossroads DVDs and he watches them all the time. Knows every song, all of the players and tries to play along on his Squier Mini. I'm looking for some new music DVDs for him. Is there anything out there on DVD that approaches the quality and variety of the Crossroads festivals?
    Thanks,
    Tom

I'm not a huge bonamassa fan, but really enjoy the muddy wolf dvd. He had a fantastic band with him.

There is a DVD that combines both of Stevie Ray Vaughn's performances at Austin City Limits into one release. The raw energy of the pre-sober SRV contrasts really well with the powerful, professional sober Stevie. The performances are awesome.

Thanks a million for the great suggestions! My son loves Jimmie Vaughn from the Crossroads series but has never actually seen Stevie - only listened to his CD's, so that one definitely goes to the top of the list. A quick Google search also shows a 1970 edition of the 62-66 Folk Blues Festival - two more winners. The Scorsese documentary may be a bit deep for his taste right now, but it is certainly going on MY wish list.

I recently watched "Lightning in a Bottle" on Xfinity On Demand. It's a concert/documentary featuring some of the greatest blues artists of all times. The part I enjoyed most was the birth of the blues segment. As far as hearing and seeing the greats I was a little disappointed. Don't know how interesting it would be to your son.

Jimmy Burns, Dave Spector, Tommy Castro, and John Mayall have put out great blues DVD. +1 for any Muddy Water's DVD who who shows you how it is done. Johnny Winter also has some good DVDs.
