I'm not at all certain that posting it would be something the staff here would appreciate. Just type SCTMMC into your search bar and you should get quite a few links.
And I see you found the place OK. Stick around for a bit and get to know all of the "characters" there. They are a great bunch of people. You'll be very welcome.

I don't really know what getting trolled entails. What happens?
It most typically a single post that encourages angry responses like saying G&L Basses suck. And then just sitting back watching others angrily defend them.

Forum trolling is like fishing. You want to see who "rises to the bait".

SCMMTC. A smaller forum made up of former TalkBass members who tired of their ways. Many members are G&L Bass fans and owners and the site has many other forums of interest covering topics outside of music. Moderation is very light and letting your hair down is encouraged.
That sounds cool, thanks.
Ignoring my experiences with trolls and specific mods on talkbass, there are actually a lot of very nice - and very knowledgeable - people on that forum, many of whom I miss interacting with. As always it's a small number of objectionables who spoil it. I still go there readonly for useful information.

One sad little Napoleon moderator on TB made me decide it just wasn't worth trying to be a member of a community that was clearly about stroking the egos of the mods and their buddies. That's sad because as you mention, there's a lot of great knowledge there and some very cool people, but I don't need to deal with that kind of toxic swamp BS in my free time.

This is my experience with moderation on various music forums-

TDPRI- Moderation is like strict parents. The rules are clear, punishments are consistent.
TGP- Moderation is like drunk parents. The rules and punishments are more or less arbitrary. Sometimes the mods laugh along with you at flagrant violations, sometimes you get the banhammer over nothing.
TalkBass- Moderation is like sadistic bullies. There really are no rules, and mods take pleasure in punishing people for fun.
OffsetGuitars- No moderation to speak of, arguments sometimes get heated but people generally just get along and when they don't, the mods let people handle their own beefs like adults. Very refreshing.

I like certain restaurants too but that doesn't mean I enjoy everything on their menu. That's how I look at TalkBass. You still back in Ohio?
Still here. Don’t honestly see myself going anywhere else at this point. Stopped touring in 2018. Not that I wouldn’t do it, but I haven’t been offered a job that involved compensation commensurate with my level of experience and knee problems. Lol.

Plenty of work locally to keep me busy.

A steel guitar engagment.

Trolls generally pick a sensitive or controversial subject and post inflammatory but carefully-worded content, trying to provoke a reaction that will get the responder suspended or even banned.
Thanks. I thought it was something like that but didn't realize people got so wrapped up in something that it would get them suspended or worse.

My personal experience both on TB and another forum was being cyber-stalked by a couple of mods with their own personal agendas.
I had the exact same experience. Once I posted an opinion one of the mods didn't like, and after that he followed me around and wouldn't leave me alone. It was more pathetic and annoying than anything else, but ultimately I decided to let him be king of his sad little kingdom and lit a shuck for greener pastures. People like that are generally creating drama to compensate for unfulfillment in other areas of their lives, and it's best to just avoid them. The 'net is a big place, so it's easy to do- it's not like there aren't plenty of bass players elsewhere.

I used to be on TB, but lost interest a few years ago (not in bass, just in the forum).
I don't recall any specific incident. Like anything else there were camps--"Jaco only needed four strings," etc., and usual suspects repeating the same stuff.
I recently visited again to do some targeted searches regarding my recent purchase of a Bass VI.
I remember Adam Neely (under a different user name) imparting really useful theory info.
There was a thread titled, "If you could have ten, and ONLY ten basses, what would they be?" My wife always got a kick out of that one and still refers to it when I gassing for some new thing.

There is not much chat here for bass players. There are a few other sites out there, again they are limited.
The reason is they need to be literate to participate in on-line forums. There are so few, bass players are not
well represented on line.
I play bass as well as guitar. I ask myself why, but I never quite understand the answer.

I have a Talkbass account but don't go there much at all. I don't like its vibe recently.

The old good Harmony Central Bass Forum was fun back in the early 00's but then it sort of fell into oblivion and non-relevancy. Not even sure it exists anymore.

Basschat.co.uk is nice: low traffic and easily digestible in its entirety, I like this.

I hang out the most on the french onlybass.com, been there since its beginnings (in 2003 or 2004?)
