Ok. So I posted a while back I picked up bass. Mostly out of necessity. I want to play live again. And tons of guitarist kinda thing. I got a few offers for some pretty decently big local guys. (Meaning they play weekly around town) but anyway. In my post I mentioned really taking to bass. Going from “I guess I’ll play bass” to selling most my electric guitar gear to fun better bass stuff.

I’m down to a epiphone masterbilt acoustic and a tele style build I did. No guitar pedals or even an amp haha. But don’t miss it. I play my acoustic here and there. The T style build was kept out of sentimental reasons.

Anyway. I know there are several bassist here. Even some primary bassist who second in guitar. What are some good bass forums? I know I can always “just google” but looking for legit input. How are the overall people? The mods?

This is actually the first forum I’ve been part of. The mods were a bit to get used to. But y’all are great. Took too many of y’all pretty quickly. And never seemed to feel “isolated” so I’d love to find a similar community.

*im not looking to leave here. Just looking for another group to talk more bass lol

There's a couple, but I'm not allowed there any more :)

The two bass forums I am no longer welcome on have many experienced trolls, and mods who will come down hard on those of us who over-react to trolling. Even Jeff Berlin got banned from talkbass.

There is not much chat here for bass players. There are a few other sites out there, again they are limited.
The reason is they need to be literate to participate in on-line forums. There are so few, bass players are not
well represented on line.

Well most of us bass players read music, even if you geetarists rite English weller than we do :)

SCMMTC. A smaller forum made up of former TalkBass members who tired of their ways. Many members are G&L Bass fans and owners and the site has many other forums of interest covering topics outside of music. Moderation is very light and letting your hair down is encouraged.

Dual citizenship on TDPRI and Talkbass has treated me and my musical interests very well. The two overlap with different perspectives so they are not redundant.

Ignoring my experiences with trolls and specific mods on talkbass, there are actually a lot of very nice - and very knowledgeable - people on that forum, many of whom I miss interacting with. As always it's a small number of objectionables who spoil it. I still go there readonly for useful information.

Any of these forums if you get too vested in it you get butthurt if the mods or some trolls don't break your way. I find short visits and doing other things helps stay out of the drama.

I got trolled and fell for it big time... still I guess I made some sad troll person's day. Such was also the manner of my exit from TGP, seems I will never learn :)
Ahh, yeah, I had a couple of close calls thanks to trolling. Anyway, sorry that happened, you were one of the good ones...

I belong to Talkbass but never been very involved there-just posted to ask basic questions, you know? ;)

But I’ll say this: I’ve belonged to many online music forums and this is the best by far regarding people treating each other with decency and respect.
