Looking at Antigua fender guitars on Reverb this morning. Wondered if there were any fans out there.
Based on how I feel about everything else, I know I SHOULD hate Antigua... but I don’t... it’s bizarre and beautiful and hideous and lovely.
that thing always looked like it was left in the 'fridge for way beyond the "Best if used by" date and came down with something green and probably unhealthy... other than that.. I'm sure a quality musician can make the "redheaded step child" rock.
No thanks. It makes a guitar look like it has an infection.
I guess I just prefer Barbuda...
Love me some Antigua!
“Antigua”..... You mean, “Mold”? I don’t hate it, and I don’t judge anyone who likes it, but I can’t even begin to understand the appeal. It’s like the guy I work with that puts orange juice in his coffee: I’m baffled, but I’m glad he enjoys his citrus java.
I find nothing attractive about that color scheme.
I recall seeing one on the guitarist of Candy Dulfer band. Thankfully, Candy sufficiently drew attention away from that guitar.
Yes she does.
Makes me call for “ralph”. Commode hugging ugly.
nothing a rattle can of ANY other color wouldn't fix, along with a pickguard.
You mean '60's refrigerator camo? Nope, I don't get it. It looks like an 8 year old's spray-can job.
Yes Candy is quite diverting, even from an Antigua finish.
The kid has one and I really like it. It's his first and only tele, he just couldn't resist. He showed me pics and I thought it looked hideous but I love it in person! Plays and sounds good too so bonus!
Especially when the clear coat starts to yellow and it turns into a "snotburst"
It's the three-legged dog of guitar finishes.
The only reason I bought this Baritone instead of a Dan Electro.
I think that is known as 60's home appliance burst . . . Pretty sure that you have to call Maytag to get a proper set up . . .
IMO most people do these types of things for shock value and for attention.
