But I think this is one hell of a cool collection
i'm curious if that is all the styles they made with that finish
even if not, i agree. really cool
He's missing the Jaguar and Jazzmasters. Hate it (but a unique collection). Looks like a wall of vomit.
i kinda like them antiguas. they`re original documents of
their time, they`re special.
I checked all the records and apart from Current Reissues, Fender never made Jazzmasters and Jaguars (and electric XXI which share the offset waiste body) in Antigua, note also that there are no Musicmaster and Bronco either.
did they make jazz basses with the finish? because i dont see one...i guess they could also get a coronado XII, the 6 string acoustic, and get them with the differant fretboards, i know ive seen antiqua strats with rosewood, maybe they made mustangs and mustang basses with maple boards? and rosewood for the teles and the pbasses? anyway, its cool collection, but i cant look at it for more than 10 seconds....-john
also, is that strat on the top left a hardtail?? i see that black spot between the bridge and middle PU and thought maybe it was the trem. tip, but i dont see the extra space on the bridge for it, maybe the black is just wear through the paint on the pickguard??
Buy one in a heartbeat. Love 'em.
Funny, that finish was originally created for the Wildwoods, to hide burns caused by re-binding...The first Antiguas had a lot more contrast--almost black to almost white. The later Anitgua reissue was mellower, warmer.
I like the Antigua look.
I don't have a problem with them, but..........
.......puting the dark finish around the F holes kind of bugs me a little.
Brings back fond memories of avacado refrigerators, and long green/gold shag carpet.
Yuck! the antigua acoustic...i'm sorry guys, i'm starting to feel a little sick...can't...type...much...longer
Seeing 'em on Hee Haw in the 70's and I thought they were really ugly, but as with the mocha brown finish they look a lot better with age
I love them! But that 12 string acoustic is REALLY UGLY!
Just got one
I just bought one of the CIJ Reissue Teles through the garage sale. I was neither here nor there on the paint job; just looking for a good guitar.
I slapped a solid black pickguard on it which, it my opinion, makes it look a whole lot less like a 1970s refridgerator and more like a green sunburst.
And I'm sure the black pickguard makes sound better, too!
I'm not quite sure if I like it or not. Pretty wild! Cool collection!
It can't possibly be any uglier than my new "Blue Floral Horror", or the Pink Paisley. I bought the black guard for the Floral too. Can't say whether or not it helped the tone any, since I didn't do an A/B comparison! Black guards look cool on EVERY Telecaster as far I'm concerned.
I'm surprised that no one has said it yet, so I'll say it.
Its just awesome....please keep the pics coming
I feel about Antigua guitars the same way I feel about children -- love 'em when they're somebody else's, but wouldn't want one myself.
