Hi guys, yet another Strat Talk refugee introduction here. It's a nightmare over there right now, I think they finally ran out of peanuts for the hamster.

I'm a long time strat guy, but my first ever tele is, hopefully, arriving via the big brown truck tomorrow. I can't wait! I'm a little giddy and it isn't even in my hands yet! Thanks for welcoming us ST refugees onto your guitar forum that actually works.

    Welcome!

I’m a Strat player myself but love this forum quite a bit!

Post pics when you get your guitar.

Perhaps the problem is peanuts. Our hamsters were not interested in them, but the little white choclate buttons ..........

    Anyway, welcome aboard.

Exactly what kind of Tele did you buy?

    Everybody needs at least one.

Hey @Slap Axe, welcome to TDPRI. :)I too used to spend a lot of time on Strat Talk, but even the most simple message is producing constant "Internal Server Error" messages now, so I'm meeting friends – old and new – over here. I play a Tele and a Strat, so it's not a competition between one or the other.

The whole Strat/Tele division is a bit silly. For years, I thought Strats were more 'rock' and Teles were 'country'. Then I heard Jim Mullins playing great sounding old school jazz on a Tele, and a rock band where one of the guitarists played a Tele that made the other guys Les Paul sound a bit of an also-ran. I've heard great country played on a Strat.

Hope your new Tele is everything you wished for, and look forward to seeing pics!

Welcome aboard. I don’t actually differentiate between the two, and FWIW my two best builds to date are both Strats - although my avatar one is what I call a Strat-ele. But I’m onto Tele builds now, with my Telecoustic style gat almost done and first electric attempt in the works.

I joined this forum in 2007 and didn't get my first Tele until last year. If forced to say, I'm still a "Strat guy", but man are my Tele's fun (yep, got a second one). Yours will feel weird and it will challenge you, but once you feel each other out, you're gonna dig it.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I play my tele more than my strats - but I have both. Several of each as a matter of fact... Well - two teles and three strats to be exact... then there's those pesky acoustics... and the basses too... and the lone Les Paul (which is really a cheap Epiphone Special)...

I've been "here" for about two years. When I got here I only had two strats... It's not a safe place for your wallet!

Is this the part with the hot wax or the part where we act like we don't do that anymore?

Welcome all you rejects... er refugees. I can joke because I play both, and I too came to TDPRI from ST, just quite a while ago.

While you may miss some of the more intensive Strat-istic discussion, in my experience TDPRI is broader in it's love of everything guitar. Like Gear Page with only 1/8 of the snark. Sure, lots and lots of Tele love here. But some of the best build, DIY, and amp subforums anywhere, for instance. And a Strat forum, too :).
