About three weeks ago, I bought a new 2012 Fender American Standard Sunburst Telecaster. I wasn't happy with the neck on the 2012 because the edges were not rolled as heavy and as nice as my previous three American made Telecasters.

At the time, I really wanted to buy an American Standard Ash Tele but I couldn’t find one, so I settled on my second favorite Tele a Sunburst version.

Anyway, I returned the guitar (thank you Guitar Center for your 30 day return policy) and after some searching, I found a brand new 2011 American Standard Tele at a nearby Sam Ash.

The Ash Tele was already on closeout and I managed to get another $100 off the price due to a Fender promotion.

I think I got a decent price on a somewhat rare (at least harder to find) 60th Anniversary Ash Telecaster.

Again, the 2012 was nice, the belly cut was OK, and the new 2012 pickups were good, but I just wasn’t thrilled with the feel of the neck.

I am happy to finally have an Ash Tele, and I am kind of glad that it doesn’t have the belly cut.

I like that it is a more traditional Telecaster.

Hope to try it with a few of my amps tonight.

    That is just gorgeous.

I've had nothing but very lousy experiences at that Sam Ash location, but now it has been 2 years. Maybe something has changed. Congrats!

    Boris,
I live in Tampa and my favorite place to buy equipment is the Tampa GC. The Tampa GC usually has a better selection of used and vintage gear and my salesman Al treats me pretty well with trades etc. The Clearwater Sam Ash did have a nice 1973 Fender Princeton amp for sale ($799). My next amp will be a 1x12 vintage Fender Tube amp...

As per Sam Ash, I have not bought from the Clearwater store in sometime either. They treated me pretty well yesterday, the guitar is really nice, sounds good, and I believe that I got a good price as compared to purchasing (ordering, not in stock at GC) a 2012 American Standard Ash sight unseen.

    All,
    Thanks for all the congrats...

No plans except for Shaller strap locks. I usually try to keep my guitars factory stock.

    Thanks.
