Hooo boy. Brutal.

They will probably find one or more miswired AC receptacles being the cause.

Guitar amps and PA amps are generally pretty safe and will not by themselves cause stuff like this. But reversed phase or an open ground can cause everything from a mild tingle to a fatal zap.

We've all been there, we put an awful lot of trust in the venue where we'ree performing. We trust a lot of factors, including their electrical system, for our safety.

Keep one of these in your bag, and check every receptacle in the stage area. Unlike the LED type testers, these use neon lamps so they're extremely rugged and last many many years.

This is perhaps the cheapest (~$10) true life insurance you can buy. Two yellow lights means it's safe.

I've played places where I found miswired power boxes, and taped over 'em so nobody else plugs in there.

Good idea. I’ve been using a fork and a butter knife.

That's terrible news, and so young too. Just recently married months before this disaster. RIP

I too carry a circuit checker in my gear bag AND use it every time I plug in.

After Maria the venue where the open mic/jam I hosted had 3 circuits with an open ground. The owner had done some quick rewiring and never checked his work. Needless to say there was no open mic/jam that night. A real electrician was called in and a lot of electrical problems got fixed.

You never can be too careful around electricity.

RIP for fam.
I always brought 2prong to 3prong converter
since we played in old places. Not good, but.
