I have a Rivera Chubster 40, 1 X 12 combo. It's perfect for club gigs and has a huge variety of authentic tube amp sounds available at the tap of a foot switch. NOT a modeling amp. Just channel switching and slight of hand.

These amps retail for $1699. You can imagine my delight at buying this one yesterday for $500!

It's mint! It's now the back-up amp to my other Chubster 40. I couldn't pass it up!

This is not the actual amp, but a photo from the Rivera website.

LOL! I entered too. I just hope I don't win my own pickups back!

Congrats, as that is one heck of a steal. I gigged with this exact amp for many years, and that is where it shines IMO, in a live setting. Talk about an amp that cuts through the mix well. I got more comments about sounding good with that amp than any other.
Too bad it wasn't mine. My best friend owned it, and I started to feel guilty on about gig #116 and never asked to borrow it again. I always liked that wine colored tolex too.

Same here. I have gotten more positive comments on my sound with this amp than any other I've owned, and I've owned all the "approved" amps at one point or another.

I have at least 300 gigs on my Rivera and it just keeps going strong. Now I have a back-up just in case. Or, since I'm in two bands now, i can leave it at one rehearsal space and not have to lug it every time.

You could always mail it to me, ya know...just in case you figure out that you have too many amps laying around the house. ;)

LOL! I'm down to 2 amps. Well, 3 if you consider my Crate GX-20M.

Two Riveras and I'm in heaven!

I could have swore yo had a fender or 2...I gues I was thinking of T prior or another poster. So many awesome amps and folks on this forum I get confused. But ya, that would be like me passing up another Princeton ust cause I have one I love. It' actually the opposite effect, and when you love an amp so much, and you see a good deal yo want another one that much more!!! I think I could have 3 of them and not be content,

You are correct. I had a museum quality 1967 BFSR with the original hang tag on it and a super sweet '77 SFDR. I sold both of them because I wasn't using them and quite honestly I'm relieved. I'm not real fond of old gear. I buy and sell gear all the time but have no interest in keeping vintage pieces. Once my '56 Les Paul Special is gone, I'm out of vintage for good. There's just way too many cool modern guitars and amps around these days that I prefer.

Nice! I scored a used Thirty-Twelve a year and a half ago and love it-I payed a little bit more, but it was worth it. I've been using it for rehearsals and as a backup at gigs, and it really shines. Those Riveras really are the best of both worlds!

I have 5 mild stages of gain on my pedal board and the 2 channels on my Rivera. Add a little delay, wah, octave, and chorus and just about anything is possible.

Wow. I thought I did good. Got a like new Rivera Clusbster Doce for $500 on CL.

I absolutely love mine. Really like the clean tones, but the distorted tones are great too. Very versatile, and easy to lug around.

Whenever I see posts in this area about "what great amp should I get" I see very few responses regarding the Rivera Combos... Don't get it. They are really nice amps.

You did great! Enjoy your new amp.

I've been a Rivera fan for many years. If you're not gigging or jamming with people, Riveras aren't great amps. They have that wonderful ability to establish themselves in the mix without being too loud. This same quality is what makes them not sound so great at home. Two different applications.

It is absolutely wonderful for warm, clean tones. I just set the channel 2 master volume up around 8 and then raise the per-amp volume to taste.

If you're using hot pickups, the amp will respond to heavy picking attack and lightly distort until you play lighter and the sound cleans up.

They really are terrific gigging amps.

On a side note Joe-Bob, I'll be in Oklahoma City for 2 days soon. 11/30 12/1

Landing one morning, flying out the following evening. Crazy.

except for workin' on them

I hope the Chubster's not laid out inside like the Quiana......
A friend had a Quiana combo that I was considering buying. I didn't care for the tone of the Celestion V30 in there so, went to change it out with an Emmi I had around.......No go, not a bit of room for a speaker of a different style than the V30 it seems......it was butt up against the tranny.....
Ok then.......well, I'll swap out the pwr switch with the burned out light for my friend at least......OMG, no slack on the wiring to do it right.....slammed up against the side, no room to work (plus, I hate those plastic tabbed type switches used in those amps, also very hard to work with in a tight space).....had to do a non eyeballed solder job to put the new one in.......hated to do that but, I just couldn't get at the damn thing enuff..........
I used to work on stereos, VCRs, TVs, etc at my Dad's shop back in the day...so, I'm no stranger to tight spaces, etc but.....
I tried the amp at two gigs though......worked pretty well on a small club gig....not so good at an outdoor gig.........
Of course this is all IMHO......... ;-)
