Yesterday, I went back to Atlanta, GA for my yearly heart & stent checkup and, thankfully, everything is going great!! The plus side is that now I don't have to go back for eighteen months instead of the usual yearly checkup!!!

The bad part?? Traffic was damn near a nightmare!! 18-wheelers were thisclose to us on the freeway that I probably could have reached out the window and touched the trailer of one of them!!! That's way too close for my liking even though I'm a huge big rig fanatic!!

All of that being said, I'm doin' well even though I've got Congenital Heart Disease and was told to cut back on the Sprite Zeros. The rogue vein that is running across my heart is still there and will be there for the rest of my life because my heart isn't strong enough to endure open-heart surgery to fix that issue. :(

    Just thought I'd update ya'll!!

Best news of the day! Congrats!

So glad to hear, hoping for more of that in future.

Having lived in ATL from '88 til '03 the one thing I don't miss is the traffic. One of my offices was only 3.5 miles from my house and it would sometimes take an hour to get there.

    Good to hear Tony !

(Try a LaCroix Lemon mixed with a LaCroix Lime w/ a little Stevia - I've never tried it but it looks good on paper)

Great news Tony! I keep hoping you'll somehow make a complete recovery, but good news on your check up is great news. My wife has had a procedure for A-Fib at Cedar Sinai not once but twice. She is doing great now, not completely healed, but manageable. I know what it feels like waiting for those check up reports. My wife takes it in stride, but every time she goes to the heart doc, I worry until they say everything's okay. Extending your next checkup date is VERY good news.

Best thoughts are with you, Tony. Day by day...that is all we each have. Pick a strong song and play it well.

Yes, I remebered that you had healthproblems from some paisley treads. Glad everything was ok...but why cutting back on sprite zero? They are sugarfree...Just curious

He wants me cutting back simply because they're like any other soft drink - they contain carbonated water. Carbonated drinks aren't good for a person.

I ain't giving up my damn Sprite-Zero!!! I've given up M&Ms & Reese's PB cups and other stuff like that I enjoyed because I'm diabetic but I sure as hell ain't giving up the one thing that I know I can drink that ain't got tons of sugar in it. Coke, Pepsi, RC (not the whiskey! LOL!) all have carbonated water.

I ain't going to make it out of here alive (I 'believe' otherwise but I don't want to break board rules) so I'm going to enjoy the ride as long as I can and as especially as long as I'm not doing something really, really harmful to myself.

Glad you're improving, Tony! Everything in moderation.
One of my good friends was drinking Diet Pepsi all day, every day; 8 to 10 a day. He developed throat cancer and had to have surgery and follow up chemo. Doctors told him it was the sweetener in his sodas. So now he "treats" himself to a cold Diet Pepsi once a day and gets regular checkups. So far, so good!
I hope you continue to improve.

Fantastic, glad you're doing well. I had a good Drs. visit myself last week.

Traffic in the ATL has gotten way worse in the last year, lot's of construction, new pay-for lanes being built, new stadium in a very bad place (I-75 & I-285) and more damn people.

Congrats on surviving the trip to Atlanta, the drivers are crazy there. Congrats on the check-up results.

Are you on any fluid restrictions?

None except that, as I mentioned, he asked me to cut back on the Sprite Zero due to the "carbonated water" in the drinks. I am, though, taking Lasix every couple of days.
